Re: VRO
Finally...the day came.
Okayyyy, I hope I didn't screw up here, I cut up a section of the VRO intake hose and stuck a SS 5/16 bolt and clamped it. Here's the motor: ( don't know what is that bottle doing in my boat!!! ;D) http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...rama/motor.jpg A bit closer: http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...ama/oilmix.jpg Side view: http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q.../cutuphose.jpg Oh and I also installed my new Racor filter: http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...arama/Done.jpg I removed the holding tank and cut the two wires leading to the motor, tomorrow I'll run it with the 50:1 pre-mixed. Should I remove the whole wire harness, or just jump the end so there's no alarm goning off? Thanks :) Joe |
Re: VRO
just don't forget to unplug the oil tank from the motor harness or it will fill the motor housing with oil lol and did you run the motor on the oil tank till the mixed gas go to the motor? you should run both for a trip at least that ensures you have premix in the motor good.

Re: VRO
Before I made the last fuel connection I primed the bulb filling the new Racor filter with new pre-mixed gas (I forgot to mention that I drained the tank and latter poured in 15 gls of pre-mixed gas) so next time when I squeeze the priming bulb new pre-mixed gas will flow!
Yes I disconnected and removed the oil reservoir (will sell it on eBay as you subjected) Should I remove the whole wire harness, or just jump the end so there's no alarm going off? Thanks Joe |
Re: VRO
no alarms sound with it unpluged, alarmes only sound if the light tan wire is grounded

Re: VRO
I put the old Champion spark plugs on and fire the motor(one click on the key) ;) and idlle it for a coupe of minutes.
What a difference, that motor JUST likes those Champion's. One thing that I notice is that there was a bit less smoke running with the pre-mixed gas ??? Is the 50:1 the right ratio? perhaps the champion's and or the Racor filter... Any idea why? Thanks Joe |
Re: VRO
i like heavier oil on all motors than it calls for to much won't hurt it just loose's small amount of power but to little will kill her totally. i run mine premix at 20 oz oil to 5 gallons of gas.it makes it between 32:1 and 40:1 mix
|
Re: VRO
My 140 will choke you out if you pre-mix it @ 32:1. But MOST of my JOHNNY-rudes didn't seem to mind it. Better off safe than BLOWN UP!
|
Re: VRO
20oz per 5 gallons is 32:1 ratio I'll try one pint of oil for 5 gallons of gas which is 40:1 mix ratio... just for a safe zone. Thanks again, you guys are the best :) Joe |
