I made a run down to the shore @ around 75mph. Distance of around 45 miles... Then I got there and got it off the trailer. Does that count?:hide:

My V21 with current 150 hp Evinrude looper runs approx. 41 mph light with top down.
Off a cliff........... as I wrote, tough to call but with enough space, maybe over 100. |
Lets talk practical outboards on a bracket that can hit 60. So far we have the 250XS. .

Finally! Giant displacement car motors with a wicked case of the hops don't count. :time::sun:

I saw 77 on the GPS in my buddies Skeeter Bass Boat w/a 225 V Max...that was on day 1...motor's run in now and she's toppin 80...

I guess with the 135hp im putting on mine i should start a 30 mph club!!!:sun:

Problem is ...........the V's only rated up to 200hp.
So, I suppose you have to be an " outlaw" to run with more hp. The most powerful 200 outboards are the etec HO and the Merc Optimax, both producing well over 200 actual hp at the prop. Genie Ayer's boat with the etec HO I believe he said runs about 52 mph WOT. Now as for inboards..........who would know how much hp ? I'd really like to see more video of the V that was running about 70mph........was porpoising a bit, but I bet tabs would fix that issue. |
