Yes, the stringers do get attached. Worked on that this morning. Got off from work at 0600 hours, shot home, got changed and put on a second layer of cloth and started attaching te stringers to the transom.
Here's a few pics, off to bed, back in at 1800. ;)

You need to work on your begging skills - I thought you were getting free stuff just for pity sake?

Or you could just threaten to arrest the boatyard owner and trump up some bogus charges ;D

Golly, do I have to think of everything for you? ::)

Good work Hammer man....you'll get your money back when she sells. ;)

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

Hammer, i painted the deck after my re-do. *The first time I used boat paint from Petitt and was unhappy with the results. *them the next time i used porch paint by glidden and it has held up great,i also added non skid to it.
On the stringer drains, i enlarged the holes a little and stuck a piece of 3/4 PVC through and let it stick out about an inch on both sides. *I then glassed around the pipe. After it cured, I cut the PVC flush with the sides of the stringers. No water intrusion forever

Excellent job hammer. Can you come over and build me one of those little fiberglass bean pools? It's hot around here and I just need something to cool off in. Sorry bout your fuel tank though.

Finished up all the glass work today on the V. Just need to sand and prime the inside. I think I migt have broken a transom record here. *;D
I'll have teh cap on by next week, then the real artwork of glassing in the seams and hiding my cuts will begin. ;D

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

looks great but you need to run a layer of glass from inside the transom over the transom and down about 4 inches on the back of the boat so it seals the wood in water tight and for non flex strenght.

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm no glass man.

msbhammer 08-16-2007 11:41 PM

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

Thanks SKOOL, Wasnt sure how I was going to do that. Thought about running cloth over the splashwell and onto the outer skin. *???

Just realized that I need to recut my stringer drains. :-[

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

Wondering if I should hold off on putting the cap on. Would love to stick a bracket on it. Easy access to bolt it on while the cap is off. :-/

Blue_Runner 08-17-2007 02:21 PM

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

Hammer if you stick a bracket on there you won't want to sell it!

Glass it up and send it down the road - then finish up your dive platform and go diving....don't foget the underwater pics 8)

Stillrunning 08-17-2007 05:34 PM

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

Why glass the splash well back in just throw a few hinges on it with a latch for easy access to the bildge area. ;D

msbhammer 08-17-2007 06:27 PM

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

Hinges...on the splashwell. Now that an Idea. *;D

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

I agree with ya Blue, should be out diving. :-/

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

Hammer looks great......When you get ready to put the cap back on, glass some small strips of ply to the underside of the deck in the boat so the cap and deck have support to rest on. keep up the good work.

msbhammer 08-18-2007 02:12 AM

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

Thats a great idea Phat. I will do that for sure. ;)

No wonder your house was locked up tighter than a drum
on Saturday.

Where you home on Sunday?
I saw a cruiser sitting at Anglers fishing shop,
I was checking the progress on the new I.E.'s around 3:00PM.

Re: Hammer's transom Rebuild

Parissht, Nope, was gone Sat.SUn. and just home now. Got drenched at Hershey Park :'( But the kids still had fun. Glad to be home. ;D
