Re: New Dive Platform
Phats, looking where you mounted your ladder, do you get any flex at all ??
|
Re: New Dive Platform
not any at all ,but that is on a 13 ft whaler we use for scalloping. it also hangs straight down.
this is what i used for a boarding handle, super big grip and plenty of room to get you hand around, even with gloves. it is a handicap bar i picked up at a local plumbing house. i'm sure home depot etc has them. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y/POL_0342.jpg |
Re: New Dive Platform
Thats a great bar, I have the same thing on the other side, but not as thick. Hmm I bet its alot cheaper then buying one at West Marine. Great thinking, I'll check out the Lowes and Home Depot as well.

Re: New Dive Platform
Test Run on the new router. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02668.jpg Finish piece. Hopefully I can get it mounted this week. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02669.jpg |
Re: New Dive Platform
Got her home and decided to lay a bead of 5200 around her and let her set up for a few days then screw her down. She will never come off now. ;)

Re: New Dive Platform
Looks great Hammer.
One word of caution though. You seem to always have a tube of 5200 laying around. Be careful with that suff. The tube is about the same size as a KY tube...I'd hate to see you make a terrible mistake in the dark of night :o |
Re: New Dive Platform
Yeah, what air said.
Looks great, coming along nicely. For some reason I keep hearing a song in my mind - Bad boys, bad boys, what ya gonna do when they come for you. |
Re: New Dive Platform
Looking good baby!!
and no worry about 5200, its better then stay hard cream!! :o |
Re: New Dive Platform
Wonder how it cures below the nookie line anyway?
;D |
Re: New Dive Platform
looks great man, keep going......and tell Lefty to keep that 5200 out of the bedroom :o
|
Re: New Dive Platform
Well if the 52 gets mixed up w/the KY, just hope it ain't fast cure ;) ...
Dive platform lookin' GREAT Hammer!! ... 8) ...the router did a nice job ... like that ;) ... 8) ... |
Re: New Dive Platform
LOL, will keep both tubes of "Lube" seperated for sure. ;D ;D
Happy with the results of the router. It makes a big differnce. |
Re: New Dive Platform
I like the line around it, but if you ever want to router the edge and have no line just make the bit shallower and you will get a smooth edge with no line.
|
Re: New Dive Platform
I like the line, too 8) ... I put it on most everything I do ;) ...good stuff, Hammer ;D ...
|
Re: New Dive Platform
Thanks guys, glad ya like it.

Re: New Dive Platform
Standard crap Hammer good luck, and as much as I like hearing what be happening I would recommend you go back up and delete a couple of your posts. IMHO, there be eyes all over and somethings can be misinterperted.
On the platform you are looking good brother, nice job with the router, always wanted to learn how to use one, But in my opinion you need to drill holes or route slots, in that platform to allow water to pass thru easily otherwise it is going to act like a trawlers stabilizers but in the wrong way. In other words it will retard the rise and fall of the transom of your V as it bobs in the waves, which will cause your stern to not rise as it needs to in reaction to the action of the waves. Plus if you get caught in a following sea it will force your transom towards China on every swell. Slots are probably best and now with your new found router skills you can pop them out quick. |

Re: New Dive Platform
Well, nobody is awake, or nobody is posting. So I ran out and snapped a few pics. of the finally finished platform. Well I wanted to just self tap the screws, but it wasnt working. I was forced to through bolt them. I guess it doesnt look that bad. near future will be a hand rail. *;)
