There is not a whole lot of difference in a commercial motor, But one thing you will see on every one, or not see, is the oil injection system, they don't have one!!
Which s a good thing! ;)

Mine was a 1988. It had a Johnson cover but when I traced the numbers it was actually an Evinrude (same difference).

Hey EP,

Check out the video I posted under "General" "Merc Test Drive Video", I think you will see that 150 hp is plenty for a V-20.

Macojoe,
It wasn't my intention to prove you wrong. You are probably correct. My motor may have been a special order, it was owned by one of the oil refineries on the Delaware river and was used on a emergency response boat. The motor is 16 years old an has less than 400 hours on it. Mixed gas will lose its lubricating properties over long periods of time. I would assume that might be the reason it has VRO.

Don't sweat it!! I am always proven wrong!! My wife does it all the time ;)

I had just always heard that they had no injection to them, and I have seen 2 so far but they were made in Mexico.

When you have been around boats and motors lone enough you will always hear something out of the norm!!
Don't worry my skin is much thicker then that!! ;)
