Re: COPS

Seen too much of that, got lumped up too many times. Did a bunch of lumping up.
But those aren't the ones, those go away after the blood stops and the swelling goes down.
The ones that stay with you, the child victims, the women that have been destroyed by animals, the innocent victims dead that you have to find answers to. Looking two legged animals in the eye when you finally catch them and know you have to figure out how to get a confession out of them so the victim does not have to re-live it over and over in court.
And the whole time having to deal with a skewed justice system and internal PD politics.
Those are the ones that don't go away. I've been lucky, I have gotten thru twenty eight years of it and still have a sense of humor, great family and a lot of good friends and I am able to put it behind me when I leave.
And now I have seven working days left, taking my pension and leaving the police work forever. Going to figure out what I am going to do when I grow up and get a job.
But like I said above some things I will be taking with me, also a lot of good things. Like the hundreds of people that I have helped in their worst times. The justice I brought to many that would have never had closure without it.
And the look of the little kid crossing the street when she is worried about something or someone and she see's you standing there, you can't buy that look from anyone.

Brother Willy, Congrads on the retirement. Something we dont have in Red-Neck Delaware. Working on the New F.O.P. contract now "today" with the City. Fighting for a State pension plan. They wont go for it, so it looks like we will be renting out some bill board space in town to inform the residents of the higher crime and no pension for officers. Sometimes think I should have been a mailman, I can still go poastal and collection a pension. ;D

WILLY!!!!!

Good for you my brother, I am so happy for you.

I don't know how your retirement is but my old partner retired last March and is bringing home more $$$ than when he was working.

As for all that "STUFF", hold onto the good, let the bad fade away, and enjoy life.

Re: COPS

Hammer - I can see you delivering mail in your V20 ;D

The real deal is if you could get on with the sheriff dept. lake patrol. Those guys have it made. Riding around and stopping only the boats that look interesting or boats they wouldn't mind seeing up close. I'm pretty darn sure my V-21 has been pulled over just so they could ask me if I take it to the ocean and how far out I've been in it ::)

I don't blame them though...I'd do the same.

As for Stinky's gun - I'm pretty sure you could have it for free.

Re: COPS

Hammer,

I thought yous guys up north all had the best retirements. 20 years and all. Even us bassackwards southerners have a state retirement.

Although its at 30 years right now, the last couple of years they have been trying to get a 25 year to pass.

Of course when I started 19 years ago they were saying it would just be a couple more years til the 25 passed.
