heres a little update:


Well we didn't get quite as much done this weekend due to the low air temps and rain on and off. We did get the rest of the transom outside cleaned up and primed.

Here is my buddy Darren( boat owner) sanding out the last little bit before primer goes on.

Its coming along nicely, but we really wanted to get paint on it. Oh well, we will this week one day. I am waiting on the primer to harden enough to wet sand it. Its drying extremely slow because of our cool weather. Warmer temps this week should help us in that department.

The Durabak is suppose to be in in a few days and we will prep the interior floor for that as well. I still have some glassing to do to finish up the new bilge too.

Well the finish coats went on yesterday afternoon. Went have some glass work to do in the bilge today and we are prepping it for Durabak. That came in yesterday as well.

What does that boat have for a motor? 20" either that or has a tall transom!

my 25" is way up on the transom on the V, Thats why I did not use the 1" for every foot rule, just would have been way up there!

Its a 25" motor on a 30" transom MJ, thats wy its so tall.

Here we go...finally got the floor rolled in Durabak and the transom and bilge finished.

I really like the way the Dback rdoes...it covers well, dries fast and seems to be pretty good stuff. We will see what kinda abuse it'll take, but if they can land helicopters on it it ought to be good enough for me. ;D

I could have spent more time getting the inner and outer transom smoother, but he was in a hurry and more than happy with the results. He just wants a good durable fishing boat and isn't worried about a few imperfections.



The back area will get a total of a half sheet of starboard. It will hinge to open the live well and hinge opposite that for bilge access. Ill post pics when I get it done...should be pretty nice. 8)

Looking great!

Did he get the smooth paint or the non slip??
I have the non slip and you will never slip!! But it is hard on the knees and stuff if you have to get down on it!
I am hoping after walking on a bit it will wear down the sharpness.

Its the non slip MJ...worked great.

We got the bracket on this morning just ahead of the storms. *He took her home to hang the motor and get her tuned in.

I remeasured after it was all done and Im worried it IS too low. I used a long wallboard square to check the height of the rear of the bracket (where the motor mounts) and I came up with 22". :-/


That would put it just right for a 20" motor, NOT a 25".

He is going to take it and mount the outboard and slip it in the water to see how it looks and works.

I could have SWORN I measured it out right the day we done it. I remember checking my math several times. I went 25" and then add the "lip" on the bracket for 27", not 22".

All we can do at this point is try it, but I sure hope I dont end up having to move that bracket. *:o
