Hammer, no need to pull the motor off the boat. I replaced my whole T&T assembly. I was able to remove the starboard motor mounting bracket without removing the motor from the boat. Get out there and jump them solenoids so we know what ya got....it ain't raining that hard ;D

Just be glad your not working on a 80's Yammy.
Thats what mine was, and all went well!!

When I did mine what i did was put a jack under the leg and just gave it a couple of pumps to stabilize it.

Then I removed the steering cable.

Then all side bracket bolts, Be careful here, they can be corroded pretty bad!

Now the 3 bolts holding the bracket to the boat.

Here is the worse part! Undo the steering tube bolt, now you will have to hammer the crap out of the bracket to get it off the tube. No words of wisdom here, using chisel hammer what have you and how ever you have to bang that thing off!! Spray it, heat it, and it will go!

Remember, the only thing holding the motor now is the one side bracket!

After that is off the rest is easy!! I left mine apart the whole winter with the jack under it.

When you put it back toghter make sure all bolts are clean and have a small amount of antiseize on them!! Reassemble and enjoy!!

I'm going from memory here, so don't hold me to it, but...

You don;t have to remove the steering cable. *Back the nut off, loosen the other nut on the steering tube while your there.

Undo the mounting bolts throught the transom.

Remove the 2 ? bolts going through the starboard mount bracket into the T & T unit. *

Now, the mounting bracket should rotate up out of the way. *You can remove the outter nut on the tilt tube and then the motor bracket comes right off. *Edit here: May not come off, may slide down the steering cable and rotate up out of the way. I seem to recall getting the advice of placing a block of wood under that side of the tilt tube to help support the weight.

At this point you'll have access to all that you need. *I do remember that it wasn't a difficult job at all. *I picked up a used T&T unit for under $200 and just swapped the whole thing out. *I had some questionalble hydraulics that would let the motor fall over time. *As the problem progressed it would lose trim while running.
