Also check to see if the transom has been rebuilt. If it's thicker than 2 1/8'', excluding the cap.

Yesterday I took the motor back off, ground down the back of the transom cap, and bolted the motor back on. Everything works like it should now.
The cap looks like it has expanded and warped over the years, it was keeping the motor from fitting flush on the transom at the top. I sealed up everything w/ 5200 and am happy with the results. Next winter I might pull the motor again and completely remove the transom cap and glass the transom top, but for now, I am ready to fish.........well, almost anyway. |

Good work!! Just make sure all is sealed good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last hing you want is to get water under that cap! Wellcraft did not seal it! |
