Just figured out another way to solve the problem. Bought a round access panel, and cut out a circle in the floor between the 2 pedistal seats. No I can get my hand under there to put large washers and nuts on the screws to attach the pedistal. Problem solved!!!
I will take your advise to fix the old holes, and redrill them a short distance away from the old ones.
