16 x 24 = 384 sq, but I am doing a Gambril roof so I will have a 2nd floor for storage so that's 768 sq
Building from my head, no plans (now that's scary!!) I am not a builder at all and I have made a few mistakes and I am sure there will be a few more to come! But it will be solid and last as long s I am alive that's for sure.

Cost for the basic building is about $5000 I am sure after flooring the 2nd floor and doing the electric and water I will be at $6000

Heck my house is a ranch 30 x 24 768 sq, They are the same!! My wife asked if I was going to live in it, I said if need be!

"gambril roof"
not familar with that term

Is that wind talking or yankee talking for gabled rooF?

nipper 05-01-2009 07:51 AM

Not wind talking at all. He means a gambrel roof. Kind of hard to describe, but it does exist. Just google gambrel roof and I think you will immediately recognize the style.

Gambrel roof = aka a barn-style roof.

My house has one and looks a lot like a barn....ask skools, he has seen it.

I built my house when I was 23 and only had 1 bedroom w/all living quarters on the 2nd story. It is 28' x 36'. Without the gambrel roof there wouldn't have been much room at all upstairs. Now since I've had kids I finished off the bottom half which used to be kinda like a garage. Put in 2 bedrooms, laundry room, a full bath, and nice big closets. Looking forward to add on a garage with an extra room upstairs very very soon. My builder said he'd be ready to start in a month...that was 3 weeks ago. Foundation is in and part of it is already concreted.

MJ - what kind of stairs will you use to access the upstairs? Stairs inside or outside? How wide? If inside the stair casing can take up a lot of room. I'm assuming it will be inside and only wide enough to be practical as to not use too much space but still be able to carry stuff up to the loft.

Looks good, wish I could start building a shop.

It will be inside and it will be as small as i can get away with. s you will see I have let the building get away from me some!
Permit said i could be 16 x 24 and no more then 20 feet tall, well its now 19' 10":zip: And I think i hve to pile some xdirt around thwe building to help with the measure!!

That is one heck of a temp building. Nice job.

Noticed the Seacraft in the yard, what's up with that?

macojoe 05-09-2009 08:23 PM

The Seacraft belongs to BS I was storing it for the winter for him.

chumbucket 05-09-2009 08:29 PM

You could have offered him indoor storage if this project was started earlier.
You're out of control!!!!!!!!! :oh: I think you're pushing the building permit envelope regarding what's considered a shed.
