Re: 21 FT Project Boat Update

well back from the coast now have begun to work on her again. epoxyed the floor panel's new wood in and them put glass over it to hold in place. then cut in the access hatch for the fuel lines. i hate a floor hatch to stick up and be a toe buster so i took the router and recessed in the floor hatch what ya think?

Here's the glass i used for the panel, i shouldn't ever need glass again. This is 42" wide and 250 yard roll. just got plus the other the guy gave too it's 3/8 inch glass in bottom pic heavy heavy crap

Re: 21 FT Project Boat Update

well been 2 days my epoxy hasn't dried enough to sand :-/ that i filled some gouges with. So i worked on the V20 tonight and did transom work. measured the transom with a string to see if it was smooth continued curve but it was off on one side by a 1/4 inch.ugh >:( so i ground on it till she is even all the way around. then spread epoxy with ballons to make smooth. now she is looking goooooooood. now got to line sand smooth then going to lay 1 piece of glass over whole transom from 4 inches under to over in well and 4 inches over the cap. she will be strong.

Heck yeah I'd love to be on that maiden voyage! One of these days we'll be on EI at the same time...it will happen. I'll let you know when I head that way. If I don't get a ride on that Continental, maybe I'll at least get a ride on the Sea Ray or V20....or if I'm lucky that corvette ;)

Re: 21 FT Project Boat Update

Skools, look familiar? Sorry for the crappy pic, no working scanner. I took a picture of photograph. I loved my Conti, very solid hull. I heard they were used as law enforcement boats in FL. I think they were only made for a few years in the late 70's.

Re: 21 FT Project Boat Update

Skools, she was a 21, same hull as yours, either a 78 or 79, can't remember. I can't find any info on the net on these boats. Do you have any links?

Re: 21 FT Project Boat Update

did a fence a few months ago. the guys nieghbor has that same boat in his back yard. in bad shape though. spidered all over. soft floors, soft transom, a yammy 130 that is siezed, and when i moved some of the 3 or 4 inches of rotten leaves i saw that console was completely broken from the floor. the guy i was working for said that it has just sat thier for about 5 years. so i waited for the guy to get home to see if i could pick it up cheap. about 2 seconds into the conversation i knew this guy was an idiot! told me about a guy who tried to trade him a nice contender for the pos. but, since he was in a bind for cash he would make me a DEAL. all i could do not to laugh in his face when he said i could pull her home, on my own trailer, for 5 grand. he had some kind of "special" trailer too. said i could have it for 3500. it only had 1 flat tire and wasn't rusted all the way thru. ya'll want his number?

Re: 21 FT Project Boat Update

none really Tin

and yes those hulls do spider crack bad. I fixed this one's. It had a ton on the top sidebut that's what epoxy is for, the floor and transom are like a rock in her now. had to fix the gas tank cover as seen above.
