Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

No word from Warner, I'm surprised he hasn't shown up on this thread ??? I'm going to use a piece of starboard and remount a chain pipe. My old one was probably a chrome over Zamac and is in bad shape. Everyting else is new so.... ;D

I may go with the larger chain pipe? The small one like mine is 1.5" inside. I'm sure it will pass a "chain splice" with 1/2" rope. It won't pass the rope with a prespliced loop with plastic chafe guard. More decisions?

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

go large on the deck pipe, had the 1.5 and went to the large oval, makes feeding the chain and line in and out easier. after we go out, i hang the line over the bow rail and rinse & let dry then lay in the cuddy and reload in anchor locker. the large deck pipe makes this sooooo much easier.

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Thanks Phat. Using the large deck pipe, do have anything connecting the deck to the anchor locker? With pics?

Thanks,

Hammer great job brother, looks sweet. You should have had Lefty do like those car shows and present it for us ;D

And for your next project, I think you should install a balcony on the back of your house where the sliding glass door is on the second floor. Before CB and the Wind Talker get down there and walk out :o

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Brother Willy, that is the neighbors house, but who knows, maybe MJ winds up over there anyhow ;D

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

AIR, you get stuck cutting any bolts. I did, cut a total of 16 bolts flush with the backing plate. What a pain that was.
Not the best pic., but its still a pic. ;D

airslot, this is a piece of 4" draintile(accordion style). it acts as a conduit between the topdeck and the shelf in the cabin to funnel the line into the locker. water also, i lost my cap about 8 years ago.

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Thanks Phat, I knew that picture was around here somewhere. Anything holding the draintile inplace? I just so happens that I have about 1000' of that stuff laying around ;D

phatdaddy 05-07-2007 10:27 AM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

i kinda thought you might have access to it. i just cut it long and squeezed it in. i also left the screws on the deckpipe long and they fit inside the draintile.

Yo, whats up with Phats shiny, cute , clean carpet ;D
He must be steam cleaning it every season. My White looks more brown then white. ;D
AIR, I might have to beg ya for a piece of tubing the next time we meet.
And whats up with BGA posting those LED's, I want them !!. Thinking now I might have to sign in to Boaters Rehab. ;D

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Hammer, if you poke around the town garage and tell them your looking for a piece of 4" corrugated drain tile / pipe, I bet they have it laying around.

Bygracealone 05-07-2007 01:24 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Yeah Hammer, install those babies on your V. With the shag carpet and those lights all you'll need are some bead strings to hang from the cuddy door and an 8 track player and you'll be boating in style ;D

msbhammer 05-07-2007 01:24 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Thinking of another way to attach that pipe. Like a vnyle coated downspout to fit in the cut out, then attach the black pipe to that.

Airslot 05-07-2007 01:33 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Well Hammer, if you wanna get trick about it, go to a plumbing supply house and get a pair of 4" closet flanges, stick em with some 4200 fast set, and put the drain pipe between them...

http://www.hardwarestore.com/media/p...6_front500.jpg

Edit to add: The top one is 4 x 3". This is the one you would really want:

http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/ser...rself/6163067?

Should be $6 or $7 each ;D

msbhammer 05-07-2007 01:44 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Yepper AIR, I thought about that as well.
BGA. Dont have the 8-track player, but have teh Fuzzy dice. All I need now are lift bags on the trailer to make the V bounce up and down. LOL. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Airslot 05-07-2007 01:45 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Oh, one added benefit...

if you ever wanted a "bow mounted crapper" the plumbing would already be in place. ;D ;D

I thought you and Lefty made the V bounce up and down? ;D

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

the problem with the pvc flanges is you would have to lift the cap 4 inches and set it down on the pvc nipple. dats why you need the expanding tubing, so you can compress it

you guys all complain about the llama lining, mine looks great and not a problem.

reelapeelin 05-08-2007 09:33 AM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Ya don't hear ME complainin' about llama lining...I have my llama lined regularly ;) ...

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Well, I got my anchor locking pin and second 10" cleat today. The holes are drilled, but I probably can't finsh until tomorrow morning.

msbhammer 05-08-2007 06:04 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Nothing here to report AIR on my chain locker cap. Not until some O.T. comes in. But I did play with the plasma cutter again last night. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Airslot 05-08-2007 10:39 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Well, I underestimate myself. I just got the bolts sealed and tight. Pulpit is done w/ 2 10" cleats, self launching roller, and anchor locking pin. I even have the anchor mounted. I still need to solve my chain pipe problem, but that no big deal... :)

msbhammer 05-08-2007 11:38 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Good job AIR, I did a quicky today before I went to work as well.

Airslot 05-08-2007 11:48 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

I was just thinking, there are 19 bolts, a whole tube of 5200, and half a tube of 4200 involved in this project. I should be able to lift the boat by thr pulpit ;D

msbhammer 05-08-2007 11:50 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

OOPS, I used 5200. ;D

Airslot 05-08-2007 11:51 PM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

And if I recall, you have 2 more bolts than I do ;)

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

so how you gonna fix the hole in the deck Air?

Airslot 05-09-2007 10:10 AM

Re: Pulpit install / assembly...

Well....good question. I may cover it with starboard and put the deck pipe through that too...

I may cut a new hole just off from the old one and use the plug w/ some Formula 27 to repair the area,,,

I may wake up Sunday morning and figure it out then ;)

One of the problems is that I haven't committed to a new larger size deck pipe, re-use mine, or replace with one just like it. Oh...the problems we face ;D
