Looking good. Damn, I wish we had clear water up here so we could snorkle/shallow dive. I'd love to do it, but up here you can't see more than 3 feet in front of your mask. Scares the sh!t outta me like that. There used to be an underground fed fresh water lake near here.. 15-20 feet to the bottom and you could see the bottom from the surface... Then some land developer got the great idea to fill it in and make a shopping mall... :cen: That was the end of my snorkeling/diving. <sigh>

mannydvk11 07-25-2013 08:08 PM

well i finally tested the motor here is a video of how its doing i found out there is a small pump on the side of the motor with the red nob when i unplug it the motor turns on with no problem and when i plug it back on the motor wont start what happens if i live it off do i need it

here is the video

Curapa 07-25-2013 10:10 PM

Looks like the choke to me. I'd fix it, it will come in handy.

mannydvk11 07-25-2013 11:37 PM

I really don't know much obit outboards but what can happened if I don't have it

spareparts 07-26-2013 06:45 AM

that's the enrichener. That should only have power to it when you push the key in. Check your key switch wiring and operation, sounds like you may have a bad key switch

there is a few things i have to check like the wiring on the key switch my my tachometer don't work and is brand new but i am sure the pump is on the open position all the time about the key switch when i turn on the motor and i try to put the key on the off position the motor stay on the only way i turn of the motor is by the kill switch where can i get a good wiring diagram for this motor

For reference, red is 12V+, Black is 12V-, purple is key on power, yellow with the red stripe is start. Black with the yellow stripe is ignition kill circuit, purple with the white stripe(on OMC products) is the choke/enrinchener

this goes to a pic of a factory key switch.

Curapa 11-13-2013 08:57 PM

Sweet. That is an interesting fuel fill setup you have there. What does your speed look like with that motor? I had a 96' 130hp on my 18' Fisherman with notched transom, it pushed it around 38+/- depending on wind and current.

lol the fuel setup is temp my aluminum tank was in to bad condition so i got my hands on a plastic one the difference was the fill up inlet so i had to adapt lol

about the speed i was able to see it at 40 mph on the gps i don't know what is the wot i was just going at 4900 rmp

Curapa 11-14-2013 10:23 AM

Not bad, I'm sure the bracket helps your speed. How is the scupper/water situation? I had a problem with a lot of water coming in at rest with people in the back. I would plug the drains while fishing.

are you talking about the things on the side connected to the floor if is that i use plugs i dont like them to be open only when i wash the boat i open them if you see in one of the pics i drill 5 holes on the floor in the back for any water to come over will drain to the bilge and the pump will take it out

dose any one know what is the WOT for this motor

mannydvk11 11-19-2013 11:01 PM

i felt my trim was going bad every time i push up or down is was really slow to it stop so i took it off and this is what i found

http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3f6a72b1.jpg

http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...psb2c8f948.jpg

is this oil suppose to be this color

http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...psf46add35.jpg

Curapa 11-20-2013 09:48 AM

My 130 trim was the same way. I picked up a fresh water used unit from eBay for cheap. I made sure to spray some protective silicone spray on the new one often. The fluid looks kind of dirty, I'd drain it and replace when you get the new one anyways.

macojoe 11-20-2013 11:15 AM

been there done that!! i got a new old stock on ebay, painted it with a zinc paint before install to hope it lasted for years!! but sold the boat now so have no idea how it held up??

mannydvk11 11-20-2013 11:31 AM

mannydvk11 11-20-2013 05:01 PM

I will that is just testing to see how it will look

Curapa 11-20-2013 05:02 PM

What do you plan to do for a t top frame? Gonna weld something up?

mannydvk11 11-20-2013 10:26 PM

no i am planing on using fitting to connect the tubing to the existing rail you see in my center console

http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...psaqjgykqu.jpg

smokeonthewater 11-21-2013 12:13 AM

I think you'll find that the existing railing is no where near strong enough to support the top... knida like tossing a 10 lb bowling ball with only your pinky

remember that the weight of the top is nothing compared to wind loads
