I checked shipping on the last one and it's 120 for him to crate and then over 500 for shipping so this thing could get expensive.

I checked Jasper engines and they want 2800 for a complete (carb and all) ready to bolt in and fire.

I also found Carolina Engines in South Carolina and they want 1600 for a long block.

Jasper fires the engine and Carolina Spins the motor to assure rotation and check oil press.

They both are Marine engines.

Re: water in the oil

thanks skool

I've been talking to a company in fla called Rapido marine. They sell rebuilt long & short blocks (30 over). They don't require a core and only charge $95 shipping anywhere in the U.S. Warranty is 12 months unlimited hours. Long block is $1450 and according to them they don't use marine blocks. They use car blocks so they don't have to worry about salt corrosion in the water passages. But they claim it is a true marine engine when complete.

They list customers with e mail address and I've sent a couple e mails to previous customers and so far everyone has nothing bad to say. One customer is only about 20 mi from me.

Do you know anything about this company

I'm thinking about upgrading to the 350 cu in and getting the extra hp, I'm assuming going from 305 to 350 I should pick up HP don't you think? They don't list HP but I'll call to assure that.

Re: water in the oil

that 350 should be at least a 260 HP motor

Re: water in the oil

I got the motor out and started cleaning the bilge. Purple power (walmart 4.25 a gal) is a great degreaser but the way the glass is laid in there (almost like a weave, not smooth) some dirt won't come out. But it still is cleaner than it was.

I'm planning on putting a new helmet, steering, outdrive bearings in. I going to install new depth finder, and planning on moving my trim tabs out toward the outside edge of the hull so it wont interfer with the depth finder while underway. What's the best way to plug the old holes where the hyd hose comes thru the transome?

Has anyone ever had to fix the motor mount bolt area where it lags into the stringer?

Mine looks like it might have some rot. Whats the best way to fix?

Thats always good for when you going to hit something!! ;D

Motor Mount board was bad in mine also. I cut way the glass, pulled the roted wood out, cleaned well, dry it, cleaned again with Acetone, 5200 a new 2" pressure treated to the floor. after dry, glassed it all back in.

When you are reinstalling the new lags, per-drill, screw the bolts in, then remove, then use a ton of 5200 to seal! when installing.

thanks

Did you secure the new board to the hull other than glass?
