Oh Willy was hard indeed.
Pun intended. :D |
Re: Evinrude Etec
Just for kicks, Suzuki has a stell timing chain that runs in an oil bath. My knock on the etec? Most common failure for 2 strokes would be oil failure, carbon, or overheat. The etec running at 100 to1 oil has no margin for error (my opinion) in the oiling system. Hell, all the new motors scare me but right now I'd be a Suzy fan if my 88' Merc went Kaboom.

Re: Evinrude Etec
I love them new Zuks too. I have had Zuk motorcycles and always loved em.
What do yall think about the older Zuks though. I seen this one on Ebay yesterday and thought if only I was outboard ready I might be interested in it. Would you buy it for the 3500 buy it now? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-...20356064QQrdZ1 |
Re: Evinrude Etec
Hey Air the E-TEC's with run without oil as well. In case you loose oil the motor doubles the fuel and turns back the throttle. They have been tested 6 to 8 hours on no oil @ 3800 rpm and no problems

Re: Evinrude Etec
NO Stink
run from older Zuks they had major major issues, Only the newer ones built by OMC are trusty. |
Re: Evinrude Etec
ok thanks Skools. Does 95 qaulify as an one with problems?
They just look so big and tuff ya know? ;D |
Re: Evinrude Etec
Stink, I'd shy away from the 95' Suzy. It's not that it's a bad motor. Parts won't be easy to find and, it's old school. If I was gonna buy a carbed outboard, or EFI, it'd be a merc, yammy, or johnyrude. My opinion of course. Skools point about the Etec is very interesting. Wish they didn't cost so much.
