Re: Pretty boat

I'm not a big head boat fan, but I am fortunate that two best friends of mine, one in south Jersey on Barnegat Bay has a 25ft Grady and the other is my neighbor who just sold his shore house for big bucks is looking to buy a 80 - 100 G's boat that he is going to keep in Raritan Bay and I will be able to fish either.
Down side is they are not my boats so if I want to take my kids out or invite friends and go to the salt it ain't happening.
The Pioneer CC would be OK for the fresh with my kicker mounted on it but again a lot more work and effort, I will not be able to use it in some places cause of rocky and shallow waters not really suitable to FGlass boats.

Re: Pretty boat

Buy the G3 and keep your wellcraft. Best of both worlds and you don't take the depreciation hit. If it dosen't work out you have two boats to trade or sell and put toward your new one.

Re: Pretty boat

I was thinking about doing both, but it is a lot of work and money plus I don't really have enough room between the pull behind camper, the V20 and another boat, the dog kennels etc etc etc as my CEO says.

Re: Pretty boat

Does the 31 g's inclue the T-Top? One of the two buds of mine got the removeable top.

Willy, I'm gonna tell ya what I think...

Let me start with a question - what does the pioneer have that Old School doesn't? They're about the same size right? So the pioneer has a newer, quieter, more powerful motor....but I've never heard you complain about the speed of Old School and I know its not the fastest on here. The pioneer also has a lot bigger of a price tag.

I understand the draw - sweeeeeeeet rig - but I can't stop thinking about the whole reason you wanted to sell your V20 either (too hard to handle by yourself).

Knowing what I know about your situation (which is only a partial picture) I don't think it makes sense to sell your boat only to replace it with one basically of the same size.

Take it or leave it - my advice is to by the G3 and invest the remaining $22,000 in some land or something that will appreciate. A boat is not a good thing to "sink" a lot of money into IMO.

But as you guys know I'm a cheap bastad. ;D

Either way, I have spoken my piece and I will support brother Willy in whatever decision he makes. ;) 8)

I think that is the obvious choice, buy the G-3 and keep the V. But with the $22K you save, buy the CEO a diamond with half, expand the driveway with the other.

I'm with Blue 100% on this one. Get the G3. They are very nice boats and will easily handle any bay fishing excursion you want to make. I'd hate to see you invest in that new boat only to find out your neck/back can't handle it after all. Then you have to sell and take a big loss in depreciation.

Thats how I'm leaning Blue. Appreciate the advise.
Don't think I can keep both though.

Re: Pretty boat

I have an idea - give me the $22 k and you can have our spare bedroom. You can use my V any time you want. Just stay away from my supermodels in training 8)

Let me ask you something else Willy - when you go to the salt, what do you do? Ride, fish, ocean, back waters? If you fish alot of creeks and inlets already, that G3 will do that no problem. On flat days I've seen 14ft tiller steer john boats 4 or 5 miles out in the ocean out of Murrells Inlet SC. So on relative calm days you can still keep your ocean fishing.

Just thinkin out loud.

Ultimately this is your decision - and I'm behind you! Just watch out and don't let MJ get "behind" you or you are in trouble!

Thanks Chum and Blue, leaning that way. And I know about that Wind Talker already ;D
That G3 is a tough sucker, I'm looking at the Outfitter V170C.
No wood, double hull welded and rivited. Diamond plate flooring and its mossy oak painted in and out if I want to do a little duck hunting with it.

Git the G-3. Once spring rolls around and you maake a few trips, your heart will tell ya what to do next. By all means, a man should have a boat that he'll use.
