I like DD and KK. But where I grew up there was a significant German influence, and local bakeries were THE thing. Nothing like that around here. As for coffee, it just needs to be strong and black.

I grew up on Danish pastries. None of them around here anymore.
Last time I had a jelly fillled donut at Dunkin the girl behind the counter kept giggling at me. I asked her what was wrong...she said "Nothing honey, you remind me of...." :-[ Wimins sure are bold these days. |

Pipe, did you grow up in Pennsylvania??
Here in my home area, Leesport/ Reading, Pa. there are so many local doghnut shops it's crazy. They beat KK & DD hands down. We also have a number of farmers markets with home made stands, there is nothing like home made sticky buns with walnuts. :P |
