Re: Fixing up the 88

Bluvr, I did what MJ says there (removing it completely) and I had a teak bow pulpit already. Makes anchoring sweet and easy.
And on your other comment, I am no ballerina myself. MJ on the other hand is svelt and gracefull. ::) But the point I wanted to make is you do NOT go forward on your cuddy roof to anchor etc. Instead you slide th hatch all the way forward and you walk into your cuddy and do it. Very easy and very secure, in fact you are not even bent over at the waist to pull etc.
Now you can duck walk with your feet on the sides of the cuddy well or you can do what I and others did and cut a piece of 3/4 wood to fit that floor opening. There is a lip all the way around the top just for that. Paint it white and put a 1" diameter hole in the end closest to the cuddy door so you can stick a finger in there and lift it out.
With this set up you can walk all the way forward with the hatch all the way open. You can even fish and cast from there as I did sometimes while handling the helm and other guys fishing off the back. ;)

Still sitting three BGA!! Have not decided if I should take it apart and try to figure out the over heating problem, or sell it hole, or part it out??

The whole saler I was selling to backed out of the deal >:(

As far as anchoring I do as Willy says, I slide the hatch forward and I have made a compartment in my cuddy so when closed I stand on it. Never falling out of the boat!! Never!

Iwill be uncovering the boat in the next 3 weeks, I can show you all you want after that!

All the bow rail does is make you fall in head first when your feet hang on it as you go over.

Re: Fixing up the 88

Hammer not sure what you mean, but you attach one of those stainless anchor line runs to the top of your pulpit so that your line feeds right down into your anchor locker below as you pull it in. It has a stainless cap on it that you close when you are not using it, keeps water out and lets the line feed thru. You attach tie off cleat or anchor cleat to your pulpit, you only pull out enough line to anchor out of the locker and tie off.
