Re: Any Sportsman / Coastal owners here?
Nice boat!
I am guessing on the plates, but they look like something you would hook a table to. And I wouldnt worry about the wiring, it looks fine :o. |

Re: Any Sportsman / Coastal owners here?
I've spent some time on a 248 with a bracket and twin 225 EVINRUDES, I didn't really like the way it was balanced. Youy had to run it up to almost 30 to get it to level out because of the added transom weight. The trim tabs would level it, but it would still sea saw quite a bit. After running that one I think a set of lighter weight engines like MERCS, or some V-4's would level it out better. But that's the impression I got from his. A better bracket probably would have helped his boat out though.

Re: Any Sportsman / Coastal owners here?
Hammer, missed your ??? about price. The boat was listed on ebay and didn't meet reserve with a high bid of $1675. It was also on Craigslist at $5k. I contacted the seller and he said he wanted $3k. After seeing it and running the motor I really couldn't argue too much about his asking price. My only concern was with the trailer. Bearings and tires in particular. The seller suggested having it hauled on a ramp truck and offered to knock the cost off the selling price. Sorry I didn't get any pics of it on the truck, it was quite a sight!
Here are some pics of the trailer: http://www.kci2.com/new/050.jpg http://www.kci2.com/new/051.jpg http://www.kci2.com/new/052.jpg http://www.kci2.com/new/053.jpg http://www.kci2.com/new/054.jpg http://www.kci2.com/new/056.jpg http://www.kci2.com/new/057.jpg I'm not sure if I should tackle all the hardware right now or just do up the brakes, bearings and tires so I can get the boat in the water ASAP. Skools, thanks for the common sense solution to the oil injection question. I slapped my forehead when I read that one! Reelapeeelin, the motor is an '86 "V6 Special". Here is an ad for it... http://www.kci2.com/new/093.jpg Yamaha didn't put a HP badge on it but the ad says it's "220HP Plus". As far as I can figure from the Seloc manual it's 2596cc and 220HP. |
