Re: USCG

gotta love photo shop. The only thing worse then the puddle jumpers here in GA is the DNR. The coasties try and enforce fed regs on state water and yes, they don't mind towing you in. My boat, 67 wellcraft did not come with a bow light, and for years ran with only the side markers. Well, part of the reason she was out of the water to begin with, before the needed repairs, is, I was told in no uncertain terms the nexttime I was seen w/o a bow light, the boat would be towed and I would be fined.

On the other hand, we( the fire department) can never get the Cg to assist in marine rescue or firefighting. But they'll bully up and board and fine us.

THANKS FOR NOTHING

Not all officers are like that, but give a new law to SOME of em and they'll bend it around the situation. Case in point Slinger...

Re: USCG

Just as bad as the CG,
the cops here in Berks county are getting wierd,
it was three AM and I was heading to the airport to catch a flight,
I was going a little faster than the speed limit on a
freeway and they pulled me over just to give me a warning
that they are watching this particular stretch of road.

Now today on my way to work,
there were ten local cops all with people pulled over
all within a quarter mile on a major artery.

What the F is going on?

I'll have to say with all my years on the water I have never had any issues with the CG. I even was pulled at 1:30am with 16 people in a 19 foot boat (just a little over loaded) and they let me go. They let me go because I did have enough live vest. The only other time my fire extinguisher was low and they just said to go out and get a new one, but now that I think about it I was allready at the dock comming in.

Lumber...you did right by keeping your cool. I'd be writing a friendly email to the CO of the local CG station inquiring why the need to tow you home? There has to be a better use of the CG's time and fuel. I think somebody made a bad judgement call on that one. Did they give you a fine or warning?
