No doubt that's as clean a '86 as there is...just keep in mind my ol' 150 Rude was an '86 and she'd sure suck down some more GAS :o ... ya might pay a little more for one of Skools' later models, but the gas savins' down the road would be WORTH IT ;) ...

Your 86 150 is the same basic engine that MJ has on his V-20, old school cross-flow engine. They are thirsty gas hogs for there output. That 86 225 is a good engine on fuel. It's a small-bore looper. The later 200/225's burned more fuel than the 86-87's small-bore's. The 88-91 large-bore loopers aren't that bad on fuel, but the 93+ are known to burn more. The later engines are more reliable, but I like my early small-bore looper. I've actually been eyein that engine myself. I like small-bore engines, LOT's of potential to build some HP ;D.

I know it says it is a 25 inch motor, but it looks like a notched transom like mine that takes a 20 inch, I'd want to confirm that before bidding.

Re: Help find MJ's new motor...?

Model no says it's a 25". Alot of boats have notched transom's with 25" shafts. If the hull was origanally intended for two 25" shafts, then you have to notch it to run one 25" shaft.

Re: Help find MJ's new motor...?

Cool, I just saw the transom that looked like mine and didn't want MJ to have trouble.

Of course I think he should buy another bracket and put twin 140 Johnzuki's on there.
