Re: Boat sunk

Got issues with camara. It's at shop. along with the boat. Pick up both Monday. The bill for repairs if shop does all the work will be 2300. I hope to cut it down to 700 if i do all the work. Might be able to do better with some creative buying and scronging. I will start next week on the shopping list when i get the boat home and can do a full inventory.

Re: Boat sunk

I have a 1983 V-20 CC which sunk about 4 years ago and the engine a 1994 150 johnson and is still running strong. With the repairs that we needed to do I decided to replace my transom myself at the same time. It was not that bad of a job and we made the repair by taking the boat apart and replacing from the inside. While the boat was apart it gave me good time to check the stringers and everything else which is under the flooring. If you want the details of how we did this let me know and I'll be glaid to give you the details of how we did the job.

At the time I never thought about taking pics of the repair but at the time I did not know sites like this even existed. The repair was fairly easy to do which surprised me and I'd be more than happy to explain to anyone how we went about doing the job.

Re: Boat sunk

First is the day I bought it. 3 years ago. Second was my nightmare. I'm now out of denial and trying to decide the big issue. Take two years and couple of 1000 $ and do everything myself. Motor runs great? I don't get it. If I was was in salt water for 5 days. I would puck pistons all over the place. I 'm going to get hold of the guy that redid the 83 and start collecting information for the job. Start with all the the sites and start the process of scronging parts and equipment to put it all together again. Transom and stringers are a must.

I'd be more than glad to show you what we did and how we did the job on the transom. We found my stringers to still be in good shape and only had to beef up a few. We also rewired the boat and I have an easy method which just about anyone could do. I live in Suffolk Va. not far from you and would be more than glad to help with any info you would want. I did the job with help from two friend and none of us had never replaced a transom but we did have experience some experence with fiberglass. The job is not near as tough as it looks. Message me with your number and I'll give you a call. I had a 1994 150 Johnson on mine when it sank and its still running great after 5 years.

Re: Boat sunk

We just backed the boat to where we wanted the motor lowered the engin till it hit the ground. Then unbolted the engin and four of us leaned it against a tree and chained and locked it up. Let me know when and if you want to run through how we did my transom job. Bryan
