Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Also MJ the relay looking thing (if it's the overheat horn), the wire missing should be a tan colored one into the harness.
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Grace it looks like the wire colors (for the most part) stay the same throughout most of the harnesses.
Some add or replace colors. This is where it's important to know "what you had and what you got" on the boat. |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
I see your back, MJ.
Well, did it run like a striped a$$ ape?? |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Well I have been out side getting the boat ready for the water, but man has the wind picked up!!
I think I waiting for another day, as I was going by myself, and the ramp in the wind is crazy, I have no idea how this boat and trailer are so I will wait. as for the wires, I did not see a p&w but i will look again when I go out side. My boat is in the sun and its 83* to hot for me |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
If it was 83 here I'd be bouncing around happy!!
Try not to get overheated, (I see why when it gets over 95* yankees (excuse me, northerners) die) ;D ;D |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
LOVE YA, MEAN IT!!
When you recooperate let us know. :D |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
LOL!!!
I am also 328 pounds! thats like the bacon on the grill!! Nothing like a fat guy that sweats! Look out! My kids just go the other way when they see a drop of sweat coming LOL |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
JESUS, I went from 140 (for 25 years) to 160 in 9 months , and was trying to figure out if it was the pounds or the age making me feel like crap!!
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Alright, I'm going to remove a GPS/Depth finder from another boat, to put in the V for now.
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
My new color plotter will be here tomorrow! ;D

Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
COULDN'T HELP MYSELF.
iT'S 85*, 65% HUMIDITY, (heat index 91*), winds 12 mph ENE. AND FEELS LIKE LATE OCTOBERRRR. |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
so I was talking to BS tonight and found that like you guys said the p & W is choke on omc, but the i have a merc switch and have a yellow and black wire, and that is the choke on merc so I am going to hook it up this weekend and see what happens.
I did not know that I had the wrong switch till today ??? ;) |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
See if you can get a drawing on the switches positions as to what the terminals (or wires) are.
Compare "off", "start", "run" and "choke" to the drawings in this thread. That merc switch may not be compatible. |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
everything seems to be working perfect!! Itys just the choke, and if the Y & B wire is the choke that should also work, I will let you know!! ::)
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Good luck on it.
The only info I can get on that switch is "factory color coded wires" (for merc). :-/ |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
You get that puppy running yet MJ. ???
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Been running a long time hammer, just need get the choke straight and will do tomorrow.
I was busy buying something special for the boat today, then needed a nap after working all night then driving for 3 hours to get my new item, |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Warm milk and a belly rub?? ;D
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
As stated above I now know that the Yellow with black tracer is choke, so I tested it with a tester and it lit up fine!
So I hooked it up and stil nothing?? I went back to the motor and looked around to find that the wire rotted off the selnoid. I striped it back and told my son to push the key while I held the wire to the screw, I hear the choke click! I added a new connector and screwed it on. went up turn the key pushed choke just turned? I pushed the warm up leaver up a bit turned the key pushed the key for choke and Bam started right up! Another problem soloved with the help of my V20 brothers!! Thanks everyone!! And tusbaki for sticking in there with all the pictures and stuff!! ;) |

Yep I have been shoping!! ;D I hope to get in the water this week?? Thge wind has been blowing for 3 or 4 days now >:( Still looking fior a good fish finder also :-/ |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
You don't need all that stuff just to stretch the old girls legs a little. Come on MJ, get her wet ;D.
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
I will have it in before all that stuff is on, just wanted the choke to work and the wind to stop!!
Going to be east winds all week, wich means I have to go to the bay for good water, and I hate the bay!! But on the ocean side they are only talking 2 to 3 footers so I guess it will be all right with this new tank ;) |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
:-*
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Speaking of the new tank, don;t forget to stop by the gas station. That ought to be fun :o :o ::) ;D :P
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires

|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires

|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Does that mean that the primer / choke / whateveryouwanttocallitthingy is fixed? ;D
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Yes!! the whateveryouwanttocallit is ready to rock and roll!!
Adding the new seat today, new deck plates (3) and wireing up the new GPS. Trim Tabs should be here tomorrow?? I am going toorder a Fish Finder end of the week. I want to be ready with in 2 weeks so I can start on the Cod! ;) |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
What kind of Trim Tabs? I was thinkin' of smart tabs. Any tho'ts on those?
Weathers been so windy and rough the surfers won't even go in cuz the waves are set too close. |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
I just bought 9 X 12 Bennet, Hydrulic with rocker switches. Brand New $404 complete shiped to my door.
I have nevert had tabs before, But have friends that have. One has Lenco's and i thought hard about them, but he has blown 2 motors all ready. You have to adjust them slow and one at a time or its to much for the motors. I thought about smart tabs when i had the V20, just didn't get around to it. But this was a good price for brand new so I did it. ;) |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Just remember, when you install, the right switch operates the left tab. ;D
|
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
Don't laugh! Thats something I would do!! ;)
CB is oming to help with the trim tabs, so I am sure they will be right! ;D |

why :-/ |
Re: So I screwed up the ignition wires
If you adjust for a list on the starboard side (either bow up or down) your port tab makes the adjustment not the starboard tab. If you push starboard switch it operates the port tab and vise versa. All you have to remember is, if you want an adjustment for the starboard side, use the starboard switch. See their instruction manual (pg 2). Mj, I think you selected the best tab. They have the best customer service of any marine company I've dealt with. First class. Good luck.
