Parish my Dad used to tell me that one, about the friends. I've done pretty good over the years, thank God

Willy- that's an amazing story. Very nice buck! Tell Daniel its bigger than anything Blue's ever killed - and thats the truth!

Very cool indeed. That's one happy boy right there and rightfully so. I hate I didn't see this thread sooner.

Re: Good day for a father

Well Dad went out today, all does everywhere. Funniest thing I was using my pop up blind. Set it up where the wind blew out into a field where the deer would not be down wind of me. Had two does walk up and stare into the openings trying to figure out what the h@ll this thing was, could have bayonnetted them.I stayed still, let them satisfy their curiosity and walk off.
Waited about five minutes and started doing a estrus doe call. Within two minutes got a nice five pointer coming in grunting with each step.
Took him at twenty yards and he went down just out of sight.
Now it's no eight pointer like my sons but it will do. Long drag out, did not get home until 6:30. Now I got to listen to my wife busting me for the little buck. ;D
No pics, camera battery died, I guess the cold got to it finally.

Thanks Blue, I have been a close observer of these critters for many years. I call in deer all the time and my kids get a kick out of it. Tell their friends that my Dad talks to deer ;D
Our shotgun season actually coincides with a secondary rut where yearling does and some mature does that did not get bred during the primary rut come into heat. A lot of guys don't realize that. I take advantage of it every year and call in does first with a yearling/fawn where the f*ck are you call and once I have does in the area I use them as attractants to call in bucks. Don't work all the time but better than 50% if I have a good wind set up. Try to put the my back to an area the bucks will not travel thru to get behind me to get a sniff.
