Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
Start warmin' up the FOR SALE sign then, MJ...it's gonna happen... :P...since I can remember, gas goes up in summer...all these ''trotted-out'' reasons for hi fuel costs are BS...it's just plain GREED >:(...and our politicians are either behind it or doin' NOTHING about it depending on which a$$hole you're talkin' about... :(...
|
Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
I have been really thinking about it!!

Put $100 in the boat today....gotta whole half a tank now:(
$2.99/gal. This sux! |
Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
Round trip to the Island and back 12 miles @ 2 miles per gallon = 6 gallons @ $3.50 (including oil) = $21.00
Staying home and wife and daughter going to the mall instead $100.00 I figure I am still ahead. Have you noticed the price of a quart of oil is still about what it was 2 or 3 years ago ? |

Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
It is, so are tires, they are made up of mostly oil. Anything made with oil, crude or its byproducts are going up. Damn them all!

Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
What I'm NOT hearin' people put into this mix are all the items and goods/sevices that WON'T be bought because those $$ are now goin' to gas the car...that CAN'T be good for the economy :P...
And last nite news about E-85...going to cost MORE at the pump than gasoline AND deliver LESS mileage than gasoline, so I guess we'll ALL go broke in the nationwide effort to reduce our dependancy on oil... ::)... |
Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??

Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
I went to all my places except the Vinyard, when I had a 17' 1964 run about, and I only took a few waves! But had lots of fun!
|
Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
gas prices will only make me fish more and not cruise, I used to like going for rides and going places but that aint gonna happen. But I when I go fishing i don't have to go far from the ramp so i really dont burn all that much fuel and the fuel i burn is worth the cost. But thats why i never go by myself, i bring other people so we can all split the costs and bait, food, ice, gas. But i am lucky enough to have someone that will go with me any time i go out and i tell them, "hey, I bought the boat and we can go out, it's just YOU have to put the gas in it!" ;) and if you wanna take a ride somewhere...I'll take you, but the fuel is on you!

No . . . but I'm gonna use my 8hp four stroke kicker to get around whenever I can.
|
Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
No need for me to gripe , I still can't get my boat down out of the rack . They are going to do another test on the cement in the AM . So there is a chance that I might get out this weekend . If not I am going to splash my 14' jon boat w/25hp Merc . and at least ride around a while . Six gal will take me a long way in that rig .

Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
Guys, we all get down on gas prices being up, but lets keep it in perspective. If you burn a 100 gallons in the boat per season and the price is curently about .50 more than last year your looking at an extra $50 for the year. No biggie. I may not go as far and maybe 2x per week instead of 3x, but I'm still gonna have my fun. You do realize that as V-20 sales go up, domestic disurbance calls are on the rise. ;D ask Hammer and Willy, the local pd.

Re: Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??
It cost me 140.00 in my truck just to get it to the water
then the 200.00 plus to fill it up...it sucks! |
