The guys over at wellcraftv20.com are talking about trying to set up a Wellcraft V-20/V-21 rendezvous. We are thinking about Cherrystone on the eastern shore (guys from Mass to Fla.) So far we are talking about a couple of weeks before Memorial Day or the first couple of weeks in June, nothing for sure yet. I haven't fished that side at all that time of year and would love to hear your input as to what week might be better for fishing (what's biting), does this sound like a place that could accomidate a get together like this? Your input would be greatly appreciated. For any of you TF's with V-20/21's we would love to hear from you! http://www.wellcraftv20.com/ Thanks, Scott IP Logged ***124; Report Thread Edit Post Quote View Profile Search Send bMail Add Buddy Al B Veteran Member Registered: 5-Jul-2001 12:00:00 AM Location: Virginia Beach, VA Total Posts: 3553 Subscriber [what is this?] posted on 9-Jan-2006 4:45:07 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flounder, Black Drum (Mother's Day weekend and for the first couple weeks following it are prime), Red Drum towards the end of May to the full moon on 6/10, Striper, Trout... man, that's PRIME TIME. Re: V20 Rendevous 2006

Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Check this out! I looked at the VMRC link posted from tidalfish for the same week we are talking about(2005 report)........sounds pretty hot!!!!!
This is from Cape Charles .................................................. .................................... Chris' Bait and Tackle registered over a dozen red drum releases over the weekend, including a 49-inch fish for Matt Johnson (9-Foot Shoals) and 46 and 48-inch reds for Woo Davis (off Smith Island). Lara Jenrette registered three black drum releases at 46, 46-1/2 and 49 inches. All three drum were caught at buoy 16 aboard the BUCCANEER. Robert Savage, Jr. released a 30-1/2-inch grey trout at the Cell. The weekend flounder hot spot was buoy 36A and was no secret, as a flotilla of boats worked the site. The shop weighed six flounder over 7 pounds and heaviest was 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was caught by Stanley Parnell. No croaker of 3 pounds or more were seen but the bottom around buoy 36A was paved with 12 to 18-inch fish. Anglers fishing the Kiptopeke State Park Pier caught sea mullet and croaker throughout the day and had taylor bluefish and pan trout move in the shadows of the pier lights after dark. Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
OK Called Ann at Cheerystone, she says if we book fairly shortly she should be able to accomadate a large group of campsites all together for both June weekends ;D They currently have 17 of these sites with elec and water available both weekends and hundreds available with no hookups both weekends.
They also have rv/camper sites available for anyone towing or driving one and can put them close by the tent sites if we book soon You can park your V20 at your site and she says the ramp is right down the street from the camp. $44 a day site with elec and water $46 a day site with with above for camper or RV $35 a day site with no hook ups There is a State Park around them called Kiptopeke St. Park and there # 800-933-7275 All camp prices are based on 4 people per site 2 adults and 2 under 18. Super Models are free since they never sleep alone. |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Me personally since I am towing I figure a good seven hours I would leave at Oh dark thirty Friday, maybe Thursday night and leave Sunday night or Monday mourning depending what I can squeze out of the job and fish all day into the night and drink MJ under the table at night ;)

Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Willy,
Did you happen to ask about boat slips? I figured I will run the boat over and back, so I need a place to tie up. I wouldn't need any shore power or anything, just a place to tie up while we socialize. ;D I assume some of the other locals might do the same Thanks, Scott |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
No Shicks I did not ask about that, did not realize that you guys would be right there with boats, I'm jealous ;) Someone has their link listed on page two of this post, give them a call.
And does anyone know if there is a short term marina close by, that would be nice for some besides me and MJ who sleep with our V20's. ;D |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Cherrystone has a couple of docks that you can tie up to so you wont have to put your boat on and off the trailer. At least they used to and I cant imagine why they would not do it now
|
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
All right we're getting down to it , lets figure the first weekend in June the 2nd to the 4th. At Cheerystone in Va.
Now we are going to need to hear how many are going to do this. I'm sure we have some guys undecided , some unsure etc. so if we can pull this off, maybe get ahold of Wellcraft set up a couple of sponsors arrange super model coverage we are going to need some kind of list of who will actually commit to coming. I'm sure no one wants to tow for a day or more to a location and have only half a dozen guys show as much as I would like meeting any of you Snaggers that just won't be practical. So lets chime in with who is coming and get this ball rolling ;) |

Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Hey Rap get in on the count man, looking forward to meeting you and Skools and Stinky, etc.

Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Willy
I'll plan to be there at least two day center console can how a few ... CBill |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
That is great Cap
|
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
I plan on being there. I'm going to try and make it Sat. & Sun. I'm probably going to bring along my boys (11 & 7 yrs old) one of those days. With that said, I'll have room for someone else the day I bring them and more room the other. As of right now I plan on motoring back home each day, that could change though. The boys might enjoy camping out on the boat for a night.

Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Who was it on our site that used to work for or had connections with the Wellcraft Co. ???
|
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
I was wondering the same thing yesterday, I thought it was Skools.
|
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Willy, if I can jump on, believe me I WILL...best not chat it up too much (for me) right now, though...
Sounds like Franco has the best place picked out...Cherrystone sounds GREAT...haven't been there, but if Grand Poobah likes it, I love it!!!... |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Hey Oz, Maybe we can hook up and make the trip together
|
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006

Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Franco that looks great, but I think you got to get a V20 in there and the Wellcraft name. Probably in place of the building. Great idea Cape to the Keys. Wish I'd thought of that ;D
|
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
How about instead of two seperate maps in each corner do the U.S coastline across the shirt, Maine to Florida concept with a V20 and a pic of the boat. In the middle a star marking the VA. spot and the 1st Norton Snagger Fishing Tournament with the date. JMO, if I had your artistic skills thats where I'd head with it.

Re: V20 2006 Norton Snagges FISH TEAM
Franco, Willy
Way cool graphic ... my vote is for coastline The light looks like Thomas Point Light, here off Annapolis. I found a few llinks that the Norton Snagger Fish team ought to knw about BEFORE getting anything wet in June! VA SALTWATER FISHING REGULATION INFO: http://www.mrc.state.va.us/regulatio...hingrules.shtm VA SALTWATER FISHING LICENSE INFO: http://www.mrc.state.va.us/regulatio...licensing.shtm by the way is it the "norton snagger fishing team" or the "snagged nortons fishing team" ! ! !... More later as I find more links..... CBill |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Thats actually the Cherrystone Flats Light - I'll work on the coastline scheme and repost
|
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Franco...love it, Bro...iffn' I make the trip, I'd be my honor and pleasure ta arrive w/da Grand Poobah hisself!!... 8) ;D...
As usual, your graphics are GREAT!!... And C-Bill, thanks for the VA fishin' regs...those who go need to know...$5 to fish up there sounds like a pretty good deal to me!!... ;) ;D... |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Either way would be good Franco, but I do think that the main pictoral emphasis should be on our beloved V's somehow if you can work that in with your Grand Poobah magic fingers ;D
|
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
I thought I was seein' Cherrystone in the graphics!!...that lighthouse is probably THE best pic to use...if it were me, I'd drop the ''in between'' idea and highlight where it's gonna be...jmho ;)...

Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Francio
I knew I had seenthat light before! ..... (I was wrong thinking it was Thomas Point.... It says it was Choptank River Light - I was off by twenty five miles - Cjoptank River is SSE of Annapolis) Go raed.... http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-cp/history/...USES/LHVA.html CHERRYSTONE BAR LIGHT Lighthouse Name: Cherrystone Bar Light Location: South of Cape Charles Harbor; nearest Town/City is Cape Charles, Virginia to mark the channel into the Eastern Shore port. Date Built: 1858 Type of Structure: Cottage style hexagonal screwpile lighthouse Characteristics: Fourth order Fresnel Lens, in 1888 a red sector of about 210 degrees of arc was placed in the light with red showing the bay. Foghorn: Bell Appropriation: Built for almost $10,000.00 Status: No longer standing Historical Information: * The light was attacked by Confederate forces during the Civil War and was reestablished in 1862 by Union forces. * Deactivated in 1919 and replaced with the automatic acerlene lantern on a caisson. * The original hexagonal lighthouse was taken off its screwpile, moved by barge (October 1920 – April 1921) becoming the Choptank River Light in Maryland (also known as Benoni Point Light), making it the only lighthouse to ever be moved to another site to be used as a working navigational aid. Keepers: Gunter one of the few black men in lighthouse service. The above was researched and drafted by Catherine (Kitty) Price, a Chesapeake Chapter of the U.S. Light House Society volunteer. Photographs (click on light name below to access image): CHERRYSTONE BAR LIGHT; no photo number/caption; date/photographer unknown. |

Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
LMAO Oz ;D
|
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
How about:
From Cape Cod... 1st Annual Norton Snagger Fishing Tournament To the Florida Keys! with the coast line in the back ground Whats the inbetween thing mean?? Cause when you say from and to it means the same thing |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Well MJ Blue says h@ll yea he's going to try and make it so we're creeping up here
I just want to remind all you guys that are thinking about it and or are planning to come we are all going to have to start booking campsites soon according to the lady at Cheerystone especially if we are going to camp together. So over the next couple of days jump into the water and see if you can make it and we can start doing some planning. I'm trying to think of a good Big Fluke prize, one that MJ would really like, so I can beat him and win it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Best fluke prize = $$$
$5 per angler per day. End of day, pot is awarded to big fish. Or divide pot between top 3 if enough people enter. Course, we might need to make it big Cobia instead of fluke 8) (JMHO - just my hopeful opinion) |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
How is this one?

Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Been offline for a few days, but seeing how yall are planning up trip close to me count me in! I figure if my v20 floats by then I can row it! ::) Unless I buy a working v20 by then :-/. Worst case I'll just have to borrow the old man's boat and hope that a 23' Wellcraft would be acceptable. :-[ In anycase, sign me up! I'll contribute even if I can't be there every day. Especially since I wont have to drive lots of hundreds of miles! 8)
2 Thumbs up on the artwork. Is this something that may become a T-shirt? If so, count me in for two!!! |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Yeah Buddy !!! Great job Franso you got my vote (although how about the folks west of the mississippi?) CBill |
Re: V20 Rendevous 2006
Hey Jeff, it is a possible t shirt design - the guys weat of the missippi may have to plan their own event, and design their own shirts. This event is gonna be pretty close to my birthday, I'll be hitting the big FIVE-OH in june!!!
