Re: Towed in Today
That's right, I am not loaning him to anyone!!
You need the book!! Even I have the book, we did not do it blind! I have bought a book for all my motors. I even bought the one for this motor long before I got it here at my house! |
Re: Towed in Today
Hey MS . . . unplug the 8 pin harness and do one wire at a time. I'll post the pages from m service manual.

Re: Towed in Today
The boat is finished, rewired one wire at a time. The starter always seemed to spin/miss on the first try. So my friend at the boat shop taook apart the starter, cleaned and oiled her up. Says the starter get dry ??. But she fired right up on the first try. So I'll be putting her in the water on Thursday for a quickie. ;D .

Re: Towed in Today
How'd everything work out Mike?
|
Re: Towed in Today
Hey Mulv, Everything went well. Boat started up on the second try...forget to purge the ball. Idles at about 800 rpms. Checked and recked all the wires and looked for smoke. Nothing, so I took out into the Bay. I really wanted to hit this one wreck today, but the foggy/hazzy over cast, I decided to stay just outside teh breaker wall. DOnt like not being able to see those tankers in teh shipping lane where teh wreck lies.
Here a pic. of a ship that I passed by. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC01905.jpg |
Re: Towed in Today
Great Pic I'm glad everything worked out. I'm gonna take some buddies fishing on Sunday, I'm hoping to get out in the bay. My father and brother did pretty well in the bay last weekend so I'm gonna try where they were and if nothing I'll probably move out to the rips.
|
Re: Towed in Today
No worries my brother...it happens to all of us one time or another. ;)
|
Re: Towed in Today
Mulv, You dont mean th eLewes Rips do ya. MAN, the rips off the point are known to turn boats over. Its all flat until you hit the point where the ocean meets the bay, and its all white capping. Just in one area. I went through the ripps tonights. I was told its because the depth goes from 30 feet to 100 feet real quick.
Thats the are I was gonna wrap myself in th eanchor chain and jump overboard, thinking STINK was gone. Would have lost a good anchor ;D |
Re: Towed in Today
Cape May Rips, I have always caught fish there. Its a little tricky if you don't have the right drift. Its really only a problem when you drift a stern. I need to find these guys some fish so I have a full tank of fuel and plan on running around till I find some. Even if its just croakers and sharks, that would be fine.
|
Re: Towed in Today
Hey Mulv,
there are usually some fish at the "Hay Stacks". Mostly the sand sharks at this time of year, but they are fun to catch cause there are a lot of them. Some times I think the same one keeps hitting the hook. |
Re: Towed in Today
Parish, I have never heard of the "Haystacks" ??? Wheres that about?

Re: Towed in Today
Go one STINK,
Mulv. The HAy STacks are a great place to fish. Also called the Ice Breakers. Half a dozens of rock piles that stick up at of the water. Just outside the breakwater wall in th eBay. They nailed alot of craokers and flounder there yesturday. |
Re: Towed in Today
how big are yall average croakers up there?
A .75lber is a huge one here. We only use em for bait, but I here the big uns are good eatin. |
Re: Towed in Today
I'd say they average around 2lb. They are good eatin but there aint a whole lot of meat on them. For a 2-3lb fish they only yield a small fillet.

I can imagine..a 3/4 lb ground mullet is big enough to eat here, but not the same # croaker. I bet they are scrapy fighters at 2-3lb though...even a small croaker has some punch to me. When I accidentally catch a 3/4-1lbish croaker I always think I got a decent speck till I get him up. :o |
Re: Towed in Today
Lke HAMMER said they are the breakers at the Delaware bay entrance, closer to the Delaware side of the bay.
Got their name because they look just like piles of hay bales sitting in a field. |
Re: Towed in Today
Parishht,
You been in the Bay lately ? |
Re: Towed in Today
Debating if I should go and work overtime today or take the boat out. ??? ??? ??? ???
|
Re: Towed in Today
Screw it, the bills can wait. Have a half tank of gas I need to burn. Going back out. ;D
Gonna washer quick though. White boats get dirty quick. Finger prints and scuff marks from working on her. |
Re: Towed in Today
I'll snap some photos of te Hay stacks for ya Mulv.
|
Re: Towed in Today
Sounds good Hammer, I'm heading down the shore after work today. It feels like an eternity since the last time I was on the boat. Its only been 3 weeks but feels like 3 months.
|
Re: Towed in Today
I think I'll be out on Sunday.
According to the weather and the marine forecast, the bay should be almost like glass, 1 to 2 foot waves. ;D |
Re: Towed in Today
Not today it was, Wild Ride, 6ft swells. :o
