Re: Main Floor Drains
Handy, * * *Good pics. * Thats the exact same set-up as I have. For those not familiar (with the first pic) that plastic fitting is in the transom wall and the collection area is in the cockpit floor just beneath it. *One thing I'd like to change. * The current fitting leaves water and dirt in the collection area. *I'd like to remove the fitting and replace it with something that has an opening even with the bottom of the collection dip. *That would keep the area much cleaner. * Also, plumb it overboard if possible - *so to keep all the dirt, sand, fishmuck, etc *... out of the bildge.

Re: Main Floor Drains
VAry interesting Pics. Never seen an area like that. Looks like the deck drain, drains into th eone area where it looks like a battery would go, then drains into another area then out the side. This is an I/O.
Lets see some full shots of the V. |

Re: Main Floor Drains
Handyman, you got a great lookin' "V" there... 8) ... wish I could be of more help in the scupper/floor drain dept...one thing for sure: water only flows DOWN hill...so the outlet HAS to be below the floor drain...I'd go out the sides of the hull and use the inline back-flow valves like Hammer ;) ...
...keep an eye on that bow-rail...lotta bow-rail ENVY goin' on around here ;D ... |
Re: Main Floor Drains
Thanks REEL, Yes I am very proud of my V, and i will keep both eyes on my rail
|
Re: Main Floor Drains
Handyman, turn down that shine brother on the V. WOW, she's looks sweet. The hull is in great shape.
How much you pay for her and how long you have her ?? Wish I new more about I/O/'s, but those drain valves that I have really work. That or get the ball valve drains that mount on the outside of the hull. Great Pics. You made my morning. Ruff night working in th erain here in De. :-/ |
Re: Main Floor Drains
Whats that metal plate mounted on the transom ??
You need to get a gallery going here and post your pics. ;) |
Re: Main Floor Drains
Handyman, here are two scuppers that might help ya out.
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/scupper1.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...er/scupper.jpg Alot of this stuff is on E-Bay. |
Re: Main Floor Drains
These scuppers let water out, but not in. Only thing that I found was that they are slightly bigger in dia. then your standard ones. So you will have to get a reducer for the two seperat size hoses.

Re: Main Floor Drains
Well guys, I paid 500.00 for her, boat motor & trailer, but the trailer is junk, but also I am a welder so no problem on the trailer. The alum angle on the transom was instaled for the ladder platform the only leg for it mounts on top of the angle, will post a pic of it later. and i have had the V for 2 weeks, thanks for all your input, this is a great site, and great people are on it...............thanks again.........Handy......

Re: Main Floor Drains
Hammer, ya think those outside scuppers better than inboard ones you have...
|
Re: Main Floor Drains
OK guys got to head out to work, got to make money so i can throw it in to the V, You all have a great day, and dont forget to get the sweeties some sweets........Handy

Re: Main Floor Drains
Oh Wait a minute here. Is the V-20 that was on E-Bay that I wanted. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
It is, isnt it. I forgot. >:( Pics. look better then the ones on E-Bay. You got yourself a good deal on that baby. ;D Reel, I'm not sure on those scuppers. I like the ones that I have only because they are out of the way, unlike to the one pictured that sticks out from the hull and could get busted or snagged on something. If I was to do it again. I would run the deck drains straight out the back. Still wondering about that bracket for your ladder. Dive ladder or just your standard swim platform. Feel free to run outside in your undies to snap a few pivs. now. Hell, I door it all the time. People next door are use to it by now. :P |
Re: Main Floor Drains
There was one question left anunswered from what I've read. The plastic box in the port gunnel is to mount the fire extinguisher.
Airslot Also, it appears that none of the factory full transom V's drain over the side? |
Re: Main Floor Drains
Mine does Air, 85 with sea drive conversion to bracket. The sea drives were all full transoms with a small 6x7 hole for the controls in them.
|
Re: Main Floor Drains
Thanks Willy. This is geting harder to figure out. Some of the SeaDrive boats drain overboard, some to the bilge. It also appears that over the years that there may have been different transoms on seadrive, I/O's, and outboards.

Re: Main Floor Drains
Mine doesn't drain over, but that was in th 70's when they were just figuring things out.
|
Re: Main Floor Drains
My 83 drains from floor into the splash well which was 3/4 inch tubing. When we had the boat apart to replace the transom I changed over to 1 inch tubing which helped alot with draining. Only tim I have trouble with water coming into the splash well then onto the floor is when several people are standing in the back of the boat fishing. I just keep to rubber boat plugs I stick in to keep the water out.
|
Re: Main Floor Drains
To keep up the confusion, my 1984 OB drains overboard out the sides.

Re: Main Floor Drains
Must be that the boats they made on 1st shift had overboard drain, 2nd shift put in drain to bilge, and 3rd shift just slept.

Re: Main Floor Drains
From what I've seen, the sea-drive and I/O models with the full transom got the lower floor with drains to the bilge. That's the word on the street anyways.
|
Re: Main Floor Drains
83 ob drains overboard..................usually.
|
Re: Main Floor Drains
I'm fairly confident that all post 79' outboards drain overboard. It's the I/O's and seadrives that are hard to figure.

Re: Main Floor Drains
Pretty clear what we like to think is WRONG...we like to think all boats of a given yr were made the same; all OBs same, all I/Os same, all Sea Drives same, etc...readin thru this thread they all seem like snowflakes...all different ???
When one guy says '84 does this, another says that...are we comparin' CCs w/Cuddys or Cuddys w/ Cuddys? ??? |
Re: Main Floor Drains
OK, from now on in this thread, list year, model, and original propulsion.
1984, OB, 20" transom, Cuddy, drains overboard. |
