Re: Fixing up the 88
What???? No bow light? Is that legal?? No, seriously, I love the pulpit idea. What the heck, I am going to do all this work, may as well customize a bit.
|
Re: Fixing up the 88
Nope no more bow light, But I just ordered side light one for each side, should be here at the end of the week.
Then I will be able to start work, I have to wire the new Tac, 2 new gas vents, lights, new stainless lug nuts, then I can start decarb and ready for the season!! |
Re: Fixing up the 88
When a center mounted bow-light gets displaced by a trollin' motor or a pulpit, a pair of these work great...
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/P4210006.jpg I had to make a pair of 3/4" Starboard risers to get them above the "lip" ... gotta luv that Starboard ;) ... |
Re: Fixing up the 88
I just ordered the side lights, that bolt side ways, going to put them under the windsheild, thy be protedted there.

Re: Fixing up the 88
Is that a self launcher. Hmm, seen one of them on a boat at the boat yard. Hmmm. ;D
Just priced the side bow lights at West Marine. Freakin nuts. 89.00 for two little lights. >:( >:( >:( >:( |
Re: Fixing up the 88
i like the side lights as well and have them on a couple but they are only legal if your stern light is center on the boat. if your rear light is on one side they aren't outside legal only legal inland waters
|
Re: Fixing up the 88
I just ordered these, they on clearance $6.99 a pair!!

Re: Fixing up the 88
yeah if it's not a single bi-color light then you are suppose to have your rear white light in the center. Only if you are going outside in your boat, but if you stay in the inland waters and lakes you are fine. but haven't seen to many tickets for it.
|
Re: Fixing up the 88
Hey buddy, check you PM's...
|
Re: Fixing up the 88
I have never seen a ticket for it! I going on the side and light on the right side, if they o like it, I tell them to BITE ME!!

Re: Fixing up the 88
M.J. needs to name his boat "REBEL".
He's such ;D ;D a law breaker. LOL !!!! ;D ;D ;D |
Re: Fixing up the 88
My excitement is waning. The marina installing my engine called and said that the 25" engine is sitting too low on the 20" transom. They installed the jacking plate which should give over 5" of vertical lift. I am hoping they are just stupid. Here's the bracket I got to raise the motor.

Re: Fixing up the 88
Boatnluvr, this is what i did about the open hole from a capless deck pipe. i needed an extra large opening for the amount of chain i have(30' for diving). it is a piece of 4" drain tile that is between the deck and ths shelf in the cabin. it carries the water into the anchor locker and to the bilge.
top shot of pulpit http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y/POL_0262.jpg inside shot of drain tile http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y/POL_0263.jpg |

Re: Fixing up the 88
Great Pics. Phats. Didnt know you were a buble blower as well. ;D
So what hold the black tubing to the underside of teh bow. Ok, lets define anchor locker guys. I presume you are talking about that little cut out area inside the cuddy were your bow eye/cleat is mounted ? I always wondered if that was enough room for 150 feet of rope. Or do you store your rope where the cut out storage area is where some guys put a porta potty ?? Phats, the black tubing, does that go through the cuddy shelf and straight into that locker ? I really like that Idea. You able to get a better distant shot of your set up. Your giving me more diving ideas. As far as your diving goes, any problems diving off your V ?? do you board the boat with your tanks on, or do you take your tanks off then haul them up on the boat ? |
Re: Fixing up the 88
Love that exstended bow rail as well. You do it yourself ? There goes the down payment on the new house. Getting all these ideas. ;D
|
Re: Fixing up the 88
I have a square 5 gal bucket with holes drilled in it. it sits in the cabin, thats were the rope stays when not in use.
I have to put a longer chain cause it doesn't make it to the bucket so when its in that area you ARe talking about it some times get wedged between the liner and the hull, and can be a pain to get out!! |
Re: Fixing up the 88
The deck pipe has screws sticking into the cabin about 1.5" the drain tile goes around then and is compressed to fit. there is a 3" hole in the shelf. on mine (83) the top locker feeds into the locker under the bunks in the cuddy. i carry about 250' 1/2 anchor line(rode to you nautical wheelers) with 30 ft of chain. i hate coming back and the anchor has been dragging.
this is a 3 step ladder that helps a lot that is a tank rack i made out of 2 two liter coke crates on plywood with a piece of rubber on the bottom. works greeat and holds 4 tanks with bc's http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y/POL_0264.jpg this is a tank holder system that holds a 80 cf tank upright. i have four of them onboard http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y/POL_0266.jpg shots of the anchor lockers http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y/POL_0267.jpg inside of the connecting tube http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y/POL_0268.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y/POL_0269.jpg |
Re: Fixing up the 88
That last pic got me all confused?? were is that hole cut?
This would be great for you divers!! I love it. http://syncboard.com/albums/Boat-Tackle-Box/2_G.jpg |
Re: Fixing up the 88
mj that is a shot of inside the anchor locker looking up to the shelf above.
i dived off of a couple of boats with a bracket and it is great. like having a big ole back porch on you boat. the only thing you have to be careful of is anything you set down on the bracket will be washed off. set your gear in the boat not on the bracket. |
Re: Fixing up the 88
My boat doesn't have that shelf, Like yours I have the opening in the cuddy, But the liner just stops at that opening allowing the rope to go all the way down.
Thats why my chain keeps getting jamed between the liner and the hull. I have to do something to stop that?? 2 weeks I uncover the boaty and start adding and fixing! ;D |
Re: Fixing up the 88
Phat, great helpful pics. for us bubble blowers. All I need now is M.J.'s bracket. ;D I dive with high pressure steel 120's.
