thanks guys for all the help and trying to figure out this problems :head:

I completely misunderstood your direction. I thought you were trying to use a jack plate as a bracket. my fault bud.

mannydvk11 03-05-2013 08:14 PM

It's ok we are here to help out and that's what you guys are doing

I found this pic for ya showing platform added with aluminum tubing. This is based on a stainless bracket.

mannydvk11 03-05-2013 09:03 PM

spareparts 03-05-2013 09:03 PM

here's my friends sea vee, he welded the Armstrong ladder mount to the tubing as well

mannydvk11 03-05-2013 09:47 PM

Wow that is some nice work what type of wood he use

spareparts 03-06-2013 06:36 AM

He builds T-Tops for a living, so the welding is easy for him, the bracket and steps were painted with awlgrip paint. The wood is either teak or ipe decking, I can't remember which

mannydvk11 03-06-2013 08:54 AM

He did really nice work and is something different tell him I will steal the idea

spareparts 03-06-2013 07:21 PM

there are two pieces of flat bar welded to teh round bar and the bracket to support the wood

mannydvk11 03-17-2013 11:17 PM

mannydvk11 03-18-2013 08:45 PM

have any of you guys have done there own upholstery i am thinking on doing my leaning post

Stinky_Hooker 03-19-2013 08:14 AM

I did this one on my 18, used 3/4" treated to build the backing, then cut foam and used white vinyl. Not much to it, just use stainless staples.

I will start the installation tomorrow if I can

Curapa 06-02-2013 09:15 PM

Nice.

Have you thought about dealing with the additional weight of the outboard and bracket further off the transom? My 18' had a problem with letting water in the scuppers and drains at rest with a notched transom.

macojoe 06-02-2013 10:06 PM

I had the same type on my boat, was a Stainless Marine and they weigh in at about 130 pounds. I thought it was the best upgrade I ever did to that boat! The only thing was with the bracket it steered a bit wide and more to one side then the other.
Looks sweat!

thanks

i was taking measurements of the boat transom and is had to get the real center line this due to the shape i also check 2 other boats same year same model and it gave me the same according to what i saw the mold of the hall is not the same on the left side its 1/4 longer

i think this bracket weight almost the same as the original the only difference is this one measure 24 and the original is 20 i think the omc bracket with everything on it including the motor weights more

mannydvk11 06-03-2013 09:13 PM

some fitting before installation just to confirm the angle and center of it lol i like the look

Looks like both of your boats drained into the bilge. Mine had scuppers at the transom and drains on the back sides. Water would always come through, especially with a couple if people were standing in one corner.

Mine was a 1975 V20, His is a 18 CC, You are right mine drained to the bilge. But I think his doesn't, you can see in his earlier pic's the floor drains.

mannydvk11 06-04-2013 10:58 AM

Am sorry but I don't understand what drain

mannydvk11 06-04-2013 11:01 AM

The only drains I see are o. The floor and the go to the sides of the boat not to the bilge

Curapa 06-04-2013 02:19 PM

Yeah, I see the drain hiding behind the guide post of the trailer now.

I would plug my drains when I did not want water coming in, otherwise my feet would be wet. While landing a large fish, if two or three people were in the back corner we would be ankle deep in water.

i have being thinking to replace those things i see the ball loos like is old and bad , is it better if i just plug them off and make a drain to the bilge

Curapa 06-04-2013 10:31 PM

That's the dilemma. Close them off and loose the self bailing feature, keep them and have wet feet. I compromised and plugged the drains when needed, on cold days mostly.

I keep a pair of rubber plugs on board for that reason...when I'm fishing live bait and have a 30 gal tank on the deck, then two guys are at the stern, puttin out lines or playin' fish, she gets a little wet back there...other than that, I typically don't need 'em

mannydvk11 06-05-2013 09:55 PM

what i am thinking on doing is plug all the holes and drill 2 holes adding to bulkheads draining to the bilge

mannydvk11 06-10-2013 09:32 PM

slick_insanity88 06-15-2013 07:58 PM

Manny.. looking good! That bracket setup looks clean, I love it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing you're in Miami judging by the 305 number on the bracket? I was born and raised there
