Here in the Peoples Republic of NJ they would be all over me like stink on sh!t if I drew a permit for a shed and did all that.
Good luck Wind Talker, it is looking good and like you guys are doing a good job

lumberslinger178 05-10-2009 08:33 AM

Here here, willys rite...... Im in the process of trying to get a permit to replace an existing deck in my town and its total BS what there doing to me and my homeowner , by the time im done they will have enough engineers , surveys infromation etc to build a new skyway bridge to europe.

I only get a pay check when job starts and finishes , they (the building dept ) get theres every friday

macojoe 05-10-2009 08:46 AM

well it is 16x24 and it is a gambrel, and it is under 20 feet, so whats the problem?? I just past my budget yesterday of $5000 I going to have to ask obama for a bail out!!

chumbucket 05-10-2009 10:04 AM

That can just barely pass for a gambrel roof. That's gonna be a kick in the nutz when they tell you to take it down. You just might have a battle brewing if any neighbors rat you out. :fight:

bigshrimpin 05-10-2009 09:54 PM

Holy Crap!! That thing is enormous!! MJ - I'm looking forward to this summer. Finish that thing up so we can go fishing . . . Seacraft will be gone May 29th!! Looking forward to being new neighbors.

phatdaddy 05-11-2009 06:21 AM

BS, are you saying your gonna be living in MJ's back yard. the way he goes through motors and you fix them, it would be win-win.

C YENSEN 05-11-2009 07:18 AM

:you::oh: that not a shed....thats a dam high rise.....holy cow man...you gonna rent that thing out? bet you could get 3 bedrooms in there....

macojoe 05-11-2009 07:55 AM

He is not moving in the back yard, but maybe close:sly:

I might have to change the name of the building from shed to work shop

Blue_Runner 05-11-2009 08:31 AM

Nice progress, its going to be nice to have the extra room. I don't blame you....make it as big as possible! Doesn't cost that much more and you'll be glad you did.

macojoe 05-11-2009 09:39 AM

Finally someone on my side! LOL

I'm on your side...Me and my buildin' buddy put up 52' X 36' er for a guy here...3 12' rollup doors on front, plus walk door in center...insulated it, lined it inside w/OSB, built a 16' work-bench along back wall...he spends more time there than in the house...or that's his wife's story anyway...we put the cedar-shingle lookin' vinyl siding on it...looks great and stays toasty all winter...we put a floor-drain in where he parks the boat...had open space made into the trusses and floored that so he's got GOBS of storage up there...

Blue_Runner 05-11-2009 11:39 AM

Reel, I know a guy up I-85 from you who needs one just like that.............................................. .............me!!!!!!! When shall we start?

randlemanboater 05-11-2009 01:58 PM

Make that 2 REEL!:fam:

Blue_Runner 05-11-2009 02:14 PM

After 61 years my dad has finally decided to bite the bullet and is having a metal building put up.

It is going to be 40 x 40 w/ two 10' x 10' side-entry garage doors. Insulated side-walls and cieling.

Cost installed: $31k (doesn't include grading)

Makes you feel better doesn't it MJ?!?!?! I'm anxious to see if my boat will fit into a 10' garage door with the top up/enclosure on. I think it will fit by 3 inches.

Well things have slowed down some since my hospital stay a few weeks ago but here is a update.
Both top walls are framed now, siding add windows and front door and I be closed up. Get some stain on there and I can start moving in.

lumberslinger178 06-16-2009 07:17 AM

lookin good mj ,

get those gable ends framed and sheathed before a spring thunder storm whips up. I'd be afraid of loseing the roof....

nipper 06-16-2009 07:56 AM

Now that is a serious gambrel roof. Hey, whose Seacraft is that in your driveway?

Blue_Runner 06-16-2009 08:49 AM

Almost there! Looks roomy!

Looks good MJ, you may even inspire me to fix my three car garage or my 80 X 60 barn or my equipment shed that is the same size as your mancave.

macojoe 09-09-2009 10:23 AM

thanks prishht, wish I had that much space!!

Blue_Runner 09-09-2009 11:27 AM

Very nice Maco man!

reelapeelin 09-09-2009 01:20 PM

It looks GREAT!!...lotta hard work...good stuff, but you better put some insulation in those walls before you fill it up so much you can't get to 'em...and old man winter rolls in and makes a popsicle factory outta yer mancave!!...

fishingwithblue 09-09-2009 02:21 PM

God that's awsome, you even put a stripper pole in it,,,brilliant!

nipper 09-09-2009 02:38 PM

Funny FWB! I noticed the support pole, but didn't see the potential.

Franco 09-09-2009 02:40 PM

macojoe 09-09-2009 03:39 PM

Thanks Guys, the stripper pole has been talked about more then you know!! But is reserved for the 2nd floor were nthe pole table and couch is going!:sly:

drbabe 09-09-2009 08:26 PM

Good lookin' project. Gotta love a shed. Gambrel is easy and uses shorter spans (lighter lumber). Any skylights? How you gonna get the Ox in?

macojoe 09-10-2009 05:38 PM

No leaking sky lights for me, and to get the Ox in there I would have had to have 14 foot ceilings!

Just a nice big work shop for me to hang in, just bought a heater today for first floor. Hope to finish the wireing this week then add insulation.

willy 09-10-2009 09:43 PM

gonna be sweet:clap: Wind talker

the ladder in pic #8 [??]

C YENSEN 09-11-2009 07:09 AM

good luck getting a pool table up that ladder....lol:you:

macojoe 09-11-2009 08:34 AM

Ladder is Temporary, I plan on doing stairs over the winter, as far as the pool table goes thats what that sliding door is for, I am going to install on 2nd floor for light air and when needed take the glass out for the big stuff!

valiant_200 09-12-2009 02:28 AM

I finally got a chance to look at this thread.

The shed looks good man. Congratulations. I like the pallet racks. They really make good use of limited space and they are strong enough to lay a motor on!

I'll have to bring The Petal by so she can dance on your stripper pole.
