Well, as an Association Manager...I will refrain from comment on this issue...:zip:

I wish I never bought in an association either......it sucks what they make you do sometimes. I am only allowed to have my boat at my house for 2 weeks in the spring, and 2 weeks in the fall to get it ready for the water and to get it ready for storage. :fight:

MJ and all, I own 8 acres in Pa. and I can get away with pretty much anything.
My neighbor on the other hand, owns a nursery and has about 75 acres.
He made some waves with the township and they found some
obscure law about abandoned cars and fined him
for having two trucks in an area where no one sees.
My point is, even though we have buffers, all it takes is one a$$hole to make a complaint, even with no homeowners association.
I like to let my trees and fence rows grow in so no one can see me
and so I don't have to look at people,
I am just waiting for the people in the developments to complain
that my property is an eyesore and draws rodents and other unwanted
animals. It is like the people that move to the busiest corner in my township,
then complain about the traffic, not realizing that they are contributing to the problem.

I live in a neighborhood with covenants and a homeowners' association. I am president of the association (basically by default because no one else wanted to do it). Our covenants prohibit boats in the driveway or yard. I used to flaunt the covenant every once in a while, but feel bad about doing it now that I am pres. I could just leave it in the driveway because the violator would also be the enforcer. On the other hand, I would not feel right trying to enforce any of the covenants if I was being a scofflaw myself.

There is this Condo building beside my office and I have about 60% of them insured. Its funny because they have used the association rules against each other and it seems they all hate each other. When they have annual elections its like they are running for president of the US. Everyone that hates each other picks sides and try to get their guys elected to run the association. They nit pick at each other over boats, garbage cans, paint colors, and they have even had their neighbors guest cars towed. Everytime their in my office all they do is gripe about their neighbor hood and it gets real fun when they run into each other in my office. I had to men in their 80's go at it so bad I thought they where going to get into a fight.

I'm proud to say that for being a very large Association, we all get along pretty dang well. Yeah, there will always be the nit-pickers, but being a waterfront boating community, the boating stuff is pretty well accepted:hi:
