I know this would not perfered because of weight distribution but isn't there enough room to put both batteries on one side as a temporary solution? If this will be your last season then the cheaper the fix the better. The deck drains on my '89 go directly to a through hull. Maybe this is why they changed it.

Why not just stick the batteries back in there box and get a few bungy cords and secure them down for the weekend. When your buddy is gone take the time to build a new shelf.

not enough room for both batteries on one side. and both sides were rotten and torn out. I made a platform last night out of a couple pieces of a treated 4x4 and a piece of 1/2 inch plywood. i took some pics and will post at lunch. thanks for your advice.

oh, and I put a hose on the drain and tried to run it to the bilge, but it is pinching itself off due to the routing method i had to take, so I will have to cut some holes in my new platform after this weekend.:head:
