First thing to do BGA is to figure out what it currently has, and then how bad it is. If it is a VERY minor seep, then slap it on your dually, fill it with fluid, and sell it. Repairing it wouldn't help it to bring enough extra money to justify fixing it. If you have to fix it, then go from there. As for the V4 and V6 interchange, I guess I lucked out. My 85 140 has a trim and tilt off of an 88 200 on it. The new boat I just got has the FASTRAK on it though. I was hoping to save the one off of my 140 for it, but it's a no go. It has a 88-92 style powerhead, but it has a 98 mid section.

Skools, I guess that' s part of my problem. I don't know what I'm looking for.

Therm, perhaps you're right; I shouldn't count the trouble till it's mine... I suppose I'm just trying to think ahead a bit.

Ok, I noticed my main trim rod (the one that raises and lowers the motor) is leaking and this thread has lead me to a question. I notice he wants to replace the entire unit but couldn't I just rebuild the unit woth new seals, orings or what ever it uses. If yes is it a very tough job?

They can be rebuilt, but the problem comes in the form of getting the old one apart. The rams are all aluminum and they tend to freeze together, and when you go to pull them apart the threads come right out and then you end up replacing the whole thing anyways.
