Yes it is a very nice and "rich" lake. Rich as in rich people everywhere, they actually have referred to it as the dead sea for years because it is so vast yet the fish were pretty scarce. Many attribute it to the lack of sufficient shad and herring in the lake. I believe its only been a few years that herring were introduced and alot of folks preached gloom and doom because of this and that and how it was going to destroy the ecosystem.
But from what I understand the fish are more numerous and bigger than ever since then. NC State record smallmouth came from there.....and they didn't even stock smallmouth!
Ok, had to edit, it wasn't a smallmouth, it was a spotted bass. Sorry. Me tupid.

Average striper is about 4-6 lbs I'd say with only a handful over 20 ever recorded.
