air can you get us some pics????

Airslot 02-15-2008 09:33 PM

I'll take pics Sunday or Monday as I get into it for real. When I got home today it was nice and I had about 40 minutes of daylight, so I started to take apart my old stuff. Had to remove the lower glove box to get the helm out. I'll use the steering cable to fish the hydraulic hoses, with an added pull string. It's really not a hard install...and the hard part is bleeding a new set up, but my neighbor is gonna let me use his power bleeder:pic:

The more pics the better:hide: The guys who are doing mine had the engine off and put the part in that goes on the motor and I wish i was there to watch:pic:

Whale, I figured it had to be original . Are you putting in a plastic tank? Iam haveing mine refabircated from the original 1 inch smaller in diamention and I think hes going to make it two inches taller in height and it wont be foamed in , it will have heavy rubber attached to the bottom. its an aluminum tank powder coated. I will have more pics when the tanks done.

Yeah.....I picked up a 40 gallon plastic tank for cheap.....I test fit it today and it slid right in.

That sounds like a plan whale, are you going to seal the hull be 4 you install the new tank? and how are you planning on fastening it back in.

Lumber, how's it going? I've got to download some pics, but as for progress...the helm is in, and the hydraulic lines are hooked to the helm and run to the stern. I was supposed to finish today, but it looks like it may rain all day?

I'm not real satisfied with my helm mounting position. I front mounted mine, as per the instrucutions...it puts the steering wheel a good 2" closer to you. I may have to move the seat back to regain some room. Either that, or look at t a rear mount helm. Not sure what I'm gonna do just yet.

On a side note...I knew there was a good chance that a fuel tank was in my future. The only time I ever got a wiff of fumes was when I filled up. Well, in order to make it easier to run the hyraulic lines, I removed the rod box on that side, and what did I find...my vent line laying in the bottom. Seems the fitting had rotted and fallen apart. Now it looks like I need a $10 fitting instead of a tank. Glad I did this steering job...saved me a pile of money...

I suspect I have a leak in my vent or fill tube b/c I get this too at fillup. I try not to fill it ALL the way up for this reason.
