Is that a typo -- "1/2 inch" on transom? I woulda thunk 1 and 1/2 inch for the transom.

I would use fir, not pine, if useing construction plywood. Hopefully, that is what you bought. The fir has less resin to begin with, so it will be able to absorb more of YOUR resin than the pine. Also, for the extra buck or two, it is a helluva lot nicer to work with.

Try to get as much flotation in there as you can, even if you won't have level flotation -- you never know. :o

Real rough estimate -- about 40 cubic feet of closed cell foam to float 2400 pounds??

2 feet x 1foot x 12 feet = 24 cubic feet. :-/
Better fill the bow and every nook and cranny. ;D
Too big a deal to raise the floor??

thanks alot seakindly, i really appreciate the info....i'll have to see if they are planning on pouring more foam. ther was not much foam in the boat when we opened it up.......i guess in 1971 they didn't think about safety.

You're welcome Ken.

I would seriously look into raising the floor, while you have the chance.

Aside from the serious flotation issue, there has been a lot of *****in and moanin about drainage issues in the older v20's.
