The foil sounds crazy, just crazy enough for me. Tried it and it made more improvement than anything else. I don't think that 'new' shine will ever be back, but much better. The whitish etched look is gone and it is now a clean darker uniform flat gray. Looks pretty good next to the fittings, actually. Might want to wear gloves as this produces a lot of what I would describe as being like graphite. Until I find something different - this was the best option so far - thanx steplift20

Tried it on my windshield frame...little improvement, but not enough to prompt finishing the job...I got impression it's more PREVENTATIVE than cleaner...I'm fixin'(those not raised in the South substitute, "going" or "about") to rob my little wifey of her aluminum foil...if it works, it'll be worth the wrath which is certain to ensue... ::)...
