Re: More project pics.

Franco,
After seeing this boat I considered taking off my bow rail, but I figured it was nice when I take the kids out. They like to sit up there. I could be interested in your old rail if the price was right.

Buckley, I'm fighting my first outdrive problem. I need to replace a bellows on the drive and I have a frozen bolt. If I cant get that bolt out I may have to replace the transom shield too. I wanna get the mechanical ready before I paint it. I have access to the body shop where I work so spraying it is not a problem.

Shicks, check your private message.

Shicks, the boat looks great. My kids use the bow rail too when we're at anchor and they're sitting up there. Why was the cleat so hard? My '86 has laughable cleats that I'd like to replace with larger ones this winter. But seeing what you've done i'm imagining that if it's hard for you, then it's going to be impossible for me. Thanks

CT,

* The cleat I installed was the port side aft. The reason it was kicking my a$$ was it was so hard to get to. I still have the port side saddle tank in, a rod holder and a downrigger mount all shoved back in the corner. I made some S.S. backing plates and had to line it up along with the washers and nuts all by "feel". Other than that ther's nothing to it. My boat came with 6 1/2" cleats that were chrome plated zink (quite rotten). The new ones are 6" S.S. They look a little small on the boat, but they should be plenty big enough for 3/8" mooring lines.

Good Luck,
Scott

Re: More project pics.

I got my teak bow strips and sliding hatch cover installed this afternoon. I also mounted both of the seats (new folding Garelick) and pedistals(blasted and painted white), GETTING CLOSER!!!!!!! The to do list is shrinking. I sanded and applied 3 coats of Cetol to all the teak, that stuff is pretty nice. I hope it holds up like everyone says.
I finally decided to have my saddle tank covers recovered in white quilted channel. I couldn't bear putting the 76' yellow stuff back in after all this work. It would be easy enough to do but all the fabric I found comes in 54" widths and would have to be seamed. That rules me out. I'll try to post some pics tomarrow, it got dark on me tonight.

Here's a couple more pics to share of new seats. I plan on putting a couple 150qt cooler directly behind each seat. There's also pic of the repaired sliding hatch cover and refinshed teak. I could still make Labor Day. I long for this fall when there's fish slime and blood on the deck :D

Its nice to do the work yourself!! At least for me.

I thought about the bed liner thing but they wanted $1,000 for LineX and close to that for the Rhino, so I said forget it!
