Remove the power cylinder from the front of the motor. Not the cylinder for the hydraulic steering, but the one with the hoses going to the power steering pump under the hood. Then hook the cylinder from the hydraulic steering to the steering arm on the motor. Youre good to go. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posts: 9848 ***124; From: Port Charlotte FL (almost -- its coming along) ***124; Registered: Feb 2001 ***124; IP: Logged ***124; |
Re: Seadrive 225 w/ power steering and hydraulic?
Well Deshet inquiring minds want to know, is there an updated hydraulic steering system installed and previous owner disabled the old style power steering or is the old system the only one and it's broke ???

Re: Seadrive 225 w/ power steering and hydraulic?
I appreciate all the help but I think from the description Macjoe understands my setup the best. None of the steering setup is aftermarket. I will take pictures of it and post for everyone to see, after I get off of work
Macjoe nothing has been disconnected just the belt for the power steering is not connected. The steering seems to work now after adding fluid to the helm. Should I just leave it as it is or should I put a belt on it? Thanks for all the help |
Re: Seadrive 225 w/ power steering and hydraulic?
Well if the pump and all works then I say yes. But if it doesn't then I say no.
But you can't tell unless you put the belt weather it works or not? So its your call! And the steering is both!!~ Its power bosted by the belt, but as stated it will work with out also. |
Re: Seadrive 225 w/ power steering and hydraulic?
I added the power steering belt here are some pics of the setup. Seems like the steering works a little better. Still need to make a few adjustments to the belt. Seems like the water started coming out of the pee hole a little quick.
Do I have a seperate fill section for the power steering pump or does the fluid from the helm fill run to it? Please look at second to last picture is that a fill hole? thanks for all the help http://members.cox.net/deshet/belt%20bracket.JPG ! ! ! http://members.cox.net/deshet/steering%20wheel.JPG ! ! ! http://members.cox.net/deshet/side%20view.JPG ! ! ! http://members.cox.net/deshet/helm%20fill.JPG ! ! ! http://members.cox.net/deshet/side%20view%20belt.JPG ! ! ! http://members.cox.net/deshet/don't%20fill%20hole.JPG !
