What year engine is it? Have you checked to see if the timing pickup is moving with the throttle linkage? It isn't uncommon for the pickup base to stick after sitting for awhile.

With all the boob shaking going on here, I don't see how anyone's Johnson aint up.

look under flywheel to see that the timing advance hasn't come out it's hole
