Re: water pump/lower unit
With mine they have a bolt hidden under that little skeg thing. I mark its location so the skeg is pointing the same direction as when it was removed.

Re: water pump/lower unit
Thanks for all the tips and incorragwement!
You would think I could just order a water pump for the year/make/model of my engine.. But Noooo. If I want to get it @ westmarine I need to remove the old one 1st and them bring it in... Or to order the kist online I nee my engine serial #. So once it stops raing I am going to get the serial number off the negine and order the parts. Stay tuned!! ;D |
Re: water pump/lower unit
The reason they ask for the serial number is that these motors are made in lots, not years, so if you buy a 2000 Mercury its a 2000, but if you buy it in 2001 then it is a 2001 till they sell that lot out.
At least thats how my mer was (1990) My friend had a mer just like mine and was a 1989, but serial numbers were only off by 78 numbers. |
Re: water pump/lower unit
Yeah don't buy or order anything without the model #.
You will be surprised of half year changes. |
Re: water pump/lower unit

Re: water pump/lower unit
Two places depending on Mfr. Port side (left facing forward ;D) yoke, decal or stamp with rivets and on freeze plug looking thing on top of powerhead (looks like round end of carrage bolt).
I'll try to find pictures on net for your motor. Hang on, I got a "84 150 Mariner in the yard, I'll get a picture. |
Re: water pump/lower unit

Re: water pump/lower unit
I'll have to look and see if your motor also has it stamped into the thing that looks like a freeze plug. Patience ;D
