Tan wire is for the overheat hot horn. You have to add an extra wire and a sending unit to use a guage.

I have no horn, that was missing in the mess. Can I just change the location of the tan wire and use it??

If I have a gauge I no need alarm, I am always looking at the gauges!
and I mix so no need to have buzz for oil.

nope tan wire must be alarm save a motor hook the horn back up. run extra wire. the tan goes into the brains on these motors.

were do I get a bypass cover?? I am working on this right now!

Thanks

Pretty much all of the parts for these things are dealer items MJ. You can get electronics aftermarket, and major engine parts aftermarket. But the little stuff is dealer items. When you say bypass cover, do you mean the valve or the T-stat cover?

I want to get rid of the bypass thing earlier in this tread, I cleaned and greased today, and it drips now instead of spraying.

Thanks!!

Are you sure it isn't the hoses leaking? I just went through this with 200 I just got. It looked like the valve dripping, but it was a hose spraying down towards the valve. The valve will run you about $75 for a new one. My 85 had to be replaced due to a leak that wouldn't stop with new seals and greasing. I would keep the valve if it was mine. The other style is for the closed deck blocks(93+) with a different cooling flow pattern and a pressure pop-off valve. If it has made it 22 years, why not just put it back for another 20 years?

Its not a hose, I ck'ed all. I forgot about this leak over the winter, but I started the motor today for the first time, and I saw it again.

I will have to find a good source of parts and get a new one. Thats the bad news, the good news is that I gt the motor started and it started like I have been using it all winter!!
I got the GPS working today, Got the Fish Finder all wired up, Trim Tabs working the right way, I wired them last fall backwards so that when I pushed the right the right would move its suppose to be the other way:head:

All and all a good day! Now all I need is the hard top to get delivered to get the rest ready!

Thanks Therm, I will try to find the part Monday.
