Re: Preferred Power?????
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I guess I'm gonna...been thinkin' about tabs since I got this V20...it do squat a bit when planed out and bow down some would help in a chop as trimmed all the way down isn't enough...OK, Pipe, you just sold me on addin' tabs (all your fault)...now, WHICH tabs... ???...don't like the "non-adjustables"...do like the ones w/the turned-down side edges... ;D...
"oh Wifey, gonna open up the money-valve jusa little here"...no response...oh yeah, she's at work...must be OK then, besides, Pipe made me do it... ::)... |
Re: Preferred Power?????

Re: Preferred Power?????
I used my "manual" trim tab function yesterday....it consisted of me yelling at one of my friends, "Hey fat @ss, move to the other side of the boat!"

Re: Preferred Power?????
Hey that's the Old School Trim Tabs or could be known as Redneck Trim Tabs.
|
Re: Preferred Power?????
Yea man! That trim tab system works great when you have 5 people on board. That 5th person needs to stay in the middle :P and then 2 on each side.

Re: Preferred Power?????
Seriously though, I'd love to have trim tabs. The only negative I see is that it would just be another function of the boat to fail. Less can be better!
Me, I wouldn't install trim tabs on mine unless I was knew I was going to be runnin an unbalanced load often. Most of the time I'm balanced out perty good, so I'm not worried about it. Plus, I got a good bit of negative trim to keep the bow down. But, they would be nice at times. |
Re: Preferred Power?????
I have 15"Wx10"L trim tabs on my Sea Ray They are the best thing since sliced bread. I'm definately going to put a set on my Wellcraft. Not as big though i want a set of Bennett 12x9's. Hydraulic are nice but my neighbor has electric on his Parker. They are much cleaner and easier to keep up. No oily mess nor low oil issues.

Re: Preferred Power?????
Skool just my 2cents but I was looking to maybe install them on my boat. Talked with the mechanic up here that installs them on the new Robalos the past couple of years. He said he loved installing the electrics and the parts department loves selling spare parts
::) Apparently they have a lot more reliability issues than the hydraulics, he said Bill if you got a choice do it once, do it right and put the bennets on, for what it's worth I kind of got the impression he was trying to help me out, they sell both. |
