Re: 90' something Evinrude 150hp Fast Strike
Fresh water ???
Could you explain a little further. :o I was wondering if you would stumble (or stagger) onto this topic. ;D Does it matter if you trailer you boat and flush after each trip. What if you dont. ??? I know some history on this motor since its in the family by marrage. It hasn't always been flushed. Dont leave me hanging now Skool |
Re: 90' something Evinrude 150hp Fast Strike
I have a 1994 150 Johnson which I would think would be about the same as the Fast Strike. Mine was a millitary issued engine which know one can tell me what this really means only that it may be beafed up some as in gearing and stuff. The good news is that we have not had to take apart the engine or the lowerunit to find out the difference. From what I learned about the engine is that they are very reliable and I have 10 years on mine. The compression on mine runs around 90 on all cyl. which is good because they ran around 95 from the factory. The lower compression helps with wear and tear on the cyl. If its been sitting that long you will need to do a carb job to make sure that the jets are not clogged.

Military Issue means it was originally purchased from mfgr by Halliburton, marked up 300%, the sold to US Gov't w/ NO warranty ... happy tax season ;) ...

I'm running a 115 Fast Strike (1995) and have found it to be very dependable.
