Coork...here's one we put on a 24' Everglades CC Total weight 4500 lbs...much more than our Vs...so this is plenty of thrust.

80 lb thrust 24 volt Auto-Pilot Minn Kota for SALTWATER ... in short, da BOMB when it comes to movin' your boat around w/electric power...the auto-pilot maintains it's course while your puttin' out lines, etc ...

And Co-Pilot is a SMALL wireless control to change speed, direction and ON/OFF...this is the deal .. will require 24 volts; two 12 volt batts (I use two group 31s) and while yer at it, add an onboard battery-charger to keep 'em HOT!!...mines just like this except an older model at only 72 lbs thrust...just make sure you get a shaft long enough to put the motor BELOW the water-line of the boat about 18" or more.

The auto-pilot and co-pilot may sound like gimmicks, but they're REEL world helpful for just the type fishin' yer talkin' about.

Thanx for all the help guys. What length shaft are you using on yours reelapeelin ? Probably going to order this week from bass Pro. Looks like a 52" would be marginal, but a 60 " shaft would be long enough to avoid cavitation (sp). Would like to go with 52" shaft if possible for space concerns.

Coork...wish I could tell ya what length...boat's an hour down the road...get the 60"...you can always have it cut down...IF you got a good Minn Kota dealer close by, buy from him in case you wanna cut down, he can do it...when you're measuring, take into account the length of the shaft that's IN the motor housing...not just the length from top of deck to 18" below water line...that issue bit me once and cost me $90 :P ... locate your batts as close as possible to elec motor and use heavy wire to connect (don't scrimp there and keep connections clean)...these motors are GREAT, but they won' tolerate low batts...start your fishin' day w/HOT BATTS ... that's why I strongly recommend onboard charger and LARGE batts ;) ...unplug motor when chargin' and DON'T leave auto-pilot on when motor in STOWED position...follow these tips and that thing will become a best friend... 8) ...

Image was from old West Virginia home, boat now resides 45 minutes from the Pamilco and 100 miles from Morehead City. Recent results from smaller boat with trolling motor below, I recently had back fusion surgery and can not tolerate trips to Morehead City, last three trips to the ocean spent 3 hours fishing and three days recovering. I can tolerate fishing in the protected inland waters for a few more hours and am only worn out for one day after-wards.

I cant imagine a 70 bein enough for a v20...I got a 70 on my 18 and its good but I wouldnt mind having more...like an 84 or 101.


I know guys in my club running 101s on 19-20' bay boats.


IMO you can never have "too much" trolling motor.


Also, the local trolling motor repair guy (been doin it for 30 years and is real respected around here) says that motorguide are hands down a better motor. Ill be goin with an 84 MG when the Kota craps out. Just my .02
