Re: Will Somebody Please.....
Hammer,
I am going to Baja in 73 days. *11 friends and family are going to hook up with as many guys from the east coast and fish/dive the Sea of Cortez on one of the "panga motherships" *The ship leaves from San Felipe on a Saturday morning and travels ~ 250 miles south through Saturday night (returning the following Thursday). *Sunday morning the boat offloads ten 20' long pangas (skiffs) and we head off to fish the nearby Midriff islands. This will be the 3rd year in a row for the east coast gang. *Here are some of their pics from last year. Re: Will Somebody Please.....
It's a male California Sheephead, pretty good sized one actually (the record is something like 36#). The chompers are for making short work of crunchy things (abalone, crabs, urchins...) They actually change sex during their life. You know this one is a male because of the black head and tail (females are all red). They range from around Monterey Bay in central CA down the coast and throughout the Sea of Cortez.
(And my parents thought that degree in Fisheries Management was four years wasted) I am considering puting together another trip in 2008 and inviting folks from V20.com. Interested? TH |
Re: Will Somebody Please.....

Re: Will Somebody Please.....
great pics TH. Looks like you had a good time. I've got another question....how do those Pangas ride? Are they stable, do they pound in rough water, wet/dry ride. I've got a friend that was interested in the Panga 22' w/ a 90 hp. Although they don't look to be that seaworthy, people that own them will tell you otherwise.
