Re: Livewells??

my 1975 V20 has NO self baling deck!! It all goes to the bildge >:(
But I have learned to deal with it.

That was the deal with the I/O, everytime you got water down there the water would splash around and all the stuff would get wet!!

Thats why I went with the bracket system!, But I am so glad that I did cause ti handles better in every way!! And if I get water down there I don't care!!

I just get the hand pump out and let CB, start pumping!! ;)

I am really going to try to get that eletric pump down there next year?? Benn trying for 3 years now and I haven't done it yet?? :o

CB, just needs to eat his wheaties before we go out!!

I don't fish with bait much, but the livewell forward of the well I mentioned in an earlier post has a bilge pump in it to drain the water. The aft well drains into my bilge.

Re: Livewells??

Ok guys after thinking this through and reading these posts I am going to go amidship with the livewell on one side and a fishbox on other. Only problem is I was wondering what will be the best material to use for it. I dont think starboard lumber would work due to I dont think it would hold the ice. I want something that would insulate good. I have found this stuff at a local plastics dealer that is anywhere from 3/4 to 2 inches thick that would work because it has a layer of dense foam in the middle, only the paper on each side of the foam is not waterproof so I would have to glass every square inch inside and out! :o what do you guys think...will starboard lumber hold ice all day in 98degree weather and will it take fiberglass because i would like to build it all into the floor on both sides???

Re: Livewells??

As noted in another post, glass will not glue to Starboard as it is to smooth and hard.

What size are you looking to make this thing?? I have a friend that took a square water tank, and glued styrofoam on the inside and it seems to work well!! He glued the styrofoam on the inside and cut it so that it makes the tank oval on the inside. This way the live bait will not swim to one corner.

When not in use as a live well we have used it for a cooler all day and it holds ice pretty good. Not the best but good anough.

Its a idea??
