It can be done.......but.....
by the time you pick up an axle, spring hangers, springs, equalizers, wheels & tires, bearings, hubs, and a case of beer you've spent at least $700. The other "but" is that the straight section of your frame rails may not be long ehough to mount the axles? Airslot |

Having just pulled a tandem axle for 200 miles I highly recommend them. Much better pulling than single axle.
Buy the new one, you cant take that money with you. |

That $2400 price is GOOD for new alum. tandem w/brakes...
...like others, I think leave yours as is...keep good tires/ air/ bearings/etc til you find tandem you like... |
